didnt see any other post on this so thought i would ask why you all got a truck, and more important a tacoma.

but for me i come from a 97' camry i had to have during high school and freshman year in college. and always got it stuck in the snow every winter, and could not have more than like two people in it with me without the car slowing down alot haha.
Also i fell in love with how they looked once i saw the 2nd gen's.

To have a truck. That and I loved the Tacoma since I was about 16, and the 2nd Gen made me want one even more back in 04, but it took me til I was 26 to buy one, but it was a brand new '10!

all three: it can off-road, it hauls shit, i like having a truck...it looks good, it's the best truck in it's class, it's dependable, it's got a name for endurance/durability, it's not too small/but not too big, it has like 47 cupholders, etc. lol

it's an overall great looking and great performing truck. so it was most worthy of my money.

Have house, need to haul sheeite. Went with the Tacoma for dependability, and to have my balls back after having driven a car for three years. I wanted tobuy a vehicle that has utility and I could keep in the family. You know, hand down to the kids down the road...waaayy down the road. I see first gens that have 250k plus on them driving just fine. I know some reeeeally smart cats around town and most of them still drive the first gens that they have had for 10 plus years.

After putting over 300,000 miles on my old 88 4Runner it was a no brainer. This one is mainly used for towing the boat up to the lakes and doing a little offroading now and then.

First month of ownership... This month I'm removing front air dam, and also Rhino lining the bed.
All around do anything go anywhere kinda vehicle. Bigger than a Ford Ranger, smaller than a 150 (not too small or too big, guess it's just right).

90% on road use. Use the truck bed daily for light loads. Really like the integrated bedliner.

5% Like to tow my light trailers camping or boating.

5% Like to tear it up on backcountry roads and trails.

This truck is about as perfect a vehicle as I could imagine.. and I like that there are so many mods you can do!!!

I had just gotten a new Ford Ranger, using the cash for clunkers to trade in my 1991 Ranger with 1/4 million miles on it. I started looking for a forum to read up on modifications and aftermarket gear, and could not find a good one. I was looking for how to make the 4 cylinder run better. i some how came across this forum. I learned about all the changes that can be made to the Tacoma, and the availability of assistance from people that had already done it. So when I finally got fed up with the no back seat, and no power, I traded it in on a used '07 double cab, long bed, V6, sport model. And have been modifying happily along now for almost a year.

I have never missed the Ranger, love my double cab, in fact, I think my dog loves it more since he gets to go on more trips with me. I attached carpet to the back of the back seats so he does not slip around. He loves it back there. And I just flip the seats back up, and friends can ride back there, and no dog hair to clean up.

Did the hood struts, the hose clamp tail gate mode, WO seat cover group buy, and a lot more.

Dirtbiking, mountain biking, camping, random truck stuff. Perfect size for a truck IMO. I've got a prerunner so no offroading for me, but I prefer bikes anyways

Always wanted one. Super reliable, I started looking for a 1st Gen years ago, but they are so used up and overpriced if you can even find anyone to let them go. I never really liked the 2 Gens, but my Camry is slowly dying (93, 260K mi) and I was looking for a new used car, mainly Lexus ES300, but far too over priced used. A guy at work had an 09' nearly new with 15K on it, we were drinking some beers and he mentioned he was retiring soon and would like to cut costs, I took a peek at his truck we talked some more, one thing led to another and I took it off his hands. Way better deal, low taxes as he hooked up the bill of sale and no dealers, and it even came with the platinum 100k warranty. And the best thing of all when buying used, I knew the history cause I was there at work when he brought it from the dealer new, and live down the street from him, super clean....A Car always seems to be a bad investment, but as much as these things are worth used, I felt more confident buying a Tacoma more so than most other vehicles, I know I can always sell it and it will sell no problem if things go bad....

I always drove cars, Toyota, VW, BMW, now back to Toyota but this time I needed a truck to pull my boat around. My parents had a t1000 toyota truck till it had 290,000 on it, still ran perfectly and got 20-23 mpg haha. I really liked the first gens but fell in love with the new 2nd gen sports. My friend has a first gen and loves its reliability. I knew exactly what I wanted when I needed to get a truck!
