That's what kills me the most. Not all, but most are on an ego trip. It's the only type of power they have.

My favorite is when they try to argue mfg specification over AHJ

Dude I haven't even wet a line yet this year. I'm hoping to get out today.

Friday from 9am to Monday 10pm working straight on this.

Well, I have at least 50 hours of trolling in this year and all I have to show for it are 2 barely keeper salmon and a 22" lake trout. Been slow fishing, I think even the fish are adhering to the Stay at Home Orders.

Dude, wait until you work in aero and are the design holder. It's a total mess that barely anybody understands. We get POs from OEMs and their buyers ask why they can't flow down spec ABC all their other suppliers do it, why can't we? And then we have to do the merry-go-round of (usually in their specs) our design, our rules. Usually happens every time we get a new buyer.

And sometimes the MFG specs are superior to AHJ flowdown - but in that case the spec applicability will say UOS in applicability.

We're low vol, high mix -- so we're making parts for 50 different customers a day sometimes, and in that, different types of parts (some aero, some ground, some military) for the same customers and different specs apply.:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Keep it. I love this hot stuff

    :crapstorm::crazy::crazy::crazy:

    Looks good though!

I do. Haha. But fortunately I'm out of the design aspect. I normally just catch the occasional flaw that slips through the cracks. We have more of an issue with them stuffing lean mfg down our throat and then being upset stuff isn't being built to their pace.

Our routing simple stuff will be tubing that has 3pcs of hardware in a row. Say two ferrules and a reducer. Each ferrule has +/-.020",..... Reducer has +/-. 030", overall dimension.

Safe to say the parts are out of spec before they even get welded. This was pointed out years ago. Just now being addressed properly haha.

I'd rather do flooring than tape, mud, and sand drywall.

I just got around to uncovering and cleaning the boat on Monday :anonymous:

Went to fire it up and no spark. Apparently the switchbox went bad over the winter. Fortunately, I have an old spare (bad kill circuit but everything else works fine) that I was able to swap in and it fired right up, so I know it's not a bad stator or trigger (hooray!). So now I've got a new switchbox on order, but the boat's just sitting in the garage. :notsure:

Are you with GE in Hooksett? Just curious, not a lot of Aero in NH.

I'm on the floor QA Eng. It's a blast.

Well, good thing about older 2 stroke outboards is usually they aren't super expensive or complicated to fix as long as you can get the parts.

hah, wow I was half joking :p I know there are a few mom and pop aero suppliers around for housings and machine shops. I interviewed there a few years back actually. They tossed me into interview pool for Sr. level engineering, I was a newbie like WTF no s$%^ my interview went poorly with no experience!

Yeah, a new one is only like $60 from Sierra. But with the COVID shipping delays it'll probably be July before I get it

Heard a loud crunch. Someone couldn't navigate a U-haul through the parking lot.

Wow... if you can't navigate through a parking lot in these times, you should just surrender your license or never drive anything bigger than a Fit!
