I need to go through and change them all again. Some of my "5 year life" batteries only had a year.or two of life left in them when I put them in. I guess there's some longer life detectors that you just change the whole thing. Not sure I want to be up on the ladder that long. One is up in the vaulted ceiling. I really don't want to do a swan dive onto the tile floor doing all that.

I am with you on that, we have two up in the vaulted ceiling, one over the living area and one in the master that is the continuance of the peak ceiling, the house is kind of a hybrid A frame (the center beam has Korean characters blessing the house, it was a registered Buddhist temple). If either of those alarms fail during the night it is time for noise reduction headphones and crate the Golden. Just getting the extension latter into the house is an ordeal much less getting it in place and climbing to change the stupid battery.

Thanks for the suggestion, should have thought of that last year. Adding it to my yearly reminder to switch out to Lithium's this coming September then change the reminder to every 5-7 years. Although the 9v Lithium's are now rated for 10 years. Are you using the 10 year ans changing every three?

Mine are hard wired as well with a battery back-up, it is the back-up batteries that get old so there is a sensor that detects when it is time to change them out. Our fire alarm system is not a multiple piece, we have CO2 separate sensors in different locations.

It is probably time to change our out alarms - they are 16 years old now as is the house. The Co2 system is different by design. I have one in the basement near the boiler, one near the wood burning stove then a few in other rooms as back-up. If we relied on the ceiling Co2 monitors we could be in real trouble depending on timing. Co2 is so deadly that waiting until it rose to the cathedral ceiling could cause issues in response time.

Same here Dan it is absolutely perfect outside. And in. Supposed to be this way until Monday then next week hot, mid 80's so enjoying it while I can.

    Doggies make for great transportation!

Made the 60+ run to Costco run this morning had the place pretty much to myself. Pick 3 any 3 meat items but no more. Was hard and hoping for a ribeye roll but no joy. Still made out OK.

5 lbs. of Nueskes bacon first time have seen it at Costco. And first time seen a 5 pound package of it.

    I like Nueske's.

In a couple of hours will hit the grocery store and hopefully catch a couple of pork butts. May wait until morning place was packed, forgot Friday is grocery day for a lot of people.

For the 4th time in 8 days, they just yanked the proverbial rug out from under my feet.

Last promise was to go home Sunday morning. Now it's late Tuesday (at soonest)

Wife is losing it. So am I.
