Good morning, round 2

Granddaughter has an ear infection and meds were working and until Mother Nature decided to "shake the house with Thunder" at 2:30 AM

A little walking around and then back to the "Big Bed".... everyone was "lights out" by 3 and asleep till 6:30 ...

Day has begun..... and we received a little bit of good news.... fingers crossed I go "view the NEW Ride" Monday AM....

Good morning all, thunderstorms started at 1500 and subsided to just a good rain around 1800, had a 80lb lap dog for most of that time. The Lab is fine with it but the 3 yr old Golden isn't. The at 0230 one of the fire alarms battery notification goes off , took me a while to figure out which one was chirping and once again the Golden was wigging out. Got out the latter and changed battery, 0530 came real early today...

Beautiful morning but more storms scheduled for the afternoon, going out early to clean some of the gutter down spouts.

Good morning.

I went through the alarm thing last fall. My big pit was having a total anxiety attack. I got up to change the battery and it turns out 2 detectors were chirping and I only had 1 battery. Luckily I watch a snowbird house a few houses down and they had a bunch of new 9v batteries. Still, it was the wee hours.

 

I change all of the alarm batteries in September but for some reason the one in the kitchen couldn't wait. I do have a supply of 9v batteries on hand just for that reason - it did take me a few times to get smart on that. Lucky you had a resource at the weee hours - it isn't bad enough to keep one awake but add a pet with anxiety makes it a LONG night.

I need to go through and change them all again. Some of my "5 year life" batteries only had a year.or two of life left in them when I put them in. I guess there's some longer life detectors that you just change the whole thing. Not sure I want to be up on the ladder that long. One is up in the vaulted ceiling. I really don't want to do a swan dive onto the tile floor doing all that.

 

I am with you on that, we have two up in the vaulted ceiling, one over the living area and one in the master that is the continuance of the peak ceiling, the house is kind of a hybrid A frame (the center beam has Korean characters blessing the house, it was a registered Buddhist temple). If either of those alarms fail during the night it is time for noise reduction headphones and crate the Golden. Just getting the extension latter into the house is an ordeal much less getting it in place and climbing to change the stupid battery.

 

Add extreme anxiety...

 

Thanks for the suggestion, should have thought of that last year. Adding it to my yearly reminder to switch out to Lithium's this coming September then change the reminder to every 5-7 years. Although the 9v Lithium's are now rated for 10 years. Are you using the 10 year ans changing every three?

Morning Everyone !!!

Currently 84° partly cloudy , High 86° and under a high wind Advisory with gusts 45-55mph . Luckily my smoke alarms and CO alarms are hardwired

 

Mine are hard wired as well with a battery back-up, it is the back-up batteries that get old so there is a sensor that detects when it is time to change them out. Our fire alarm system is not a multiple piece, we have CO2 separate sensors in different locations.
