That’s why I only use Snap On 4x4’s to prop up my truck when welding the gas tank on the side of the road.

    OME and worth every penny.
I've had 4 of those shitty jacks for over 20 yrs. Never liked the notch type but never had one drop either. I always put wheels under and leave the floor jack almost tight. Redundant, redundant if I'm going under.

Actually even post lifts with ratchets make me nervous, I don't know why. They say the old hydraulics were worse. Hard to believe every little gas station used to have those huge lifts. To have a H.S. bud whose Daddy owned a station was the shit.

One on left is 61197. One on right is 62393.

I see no difference. HF better not either in a half hour.

HF didn't want to take the 62393 stands back. Said those aren't recalled.... I noted that they look exactly the same, so how is one OK, and not the other. They couldn't say.

Yadayada, manager discussion and I walked out with cash refund.

I seen a picture the other day that showed the problem is on the cast part that moves up and down. Some of the teeth weren't cast right

It's the teeth that engage the pawl. There wouldn't be any difference on the outside.

I got the recall letter in my email and HF exchanged mine for the more expensive stands that were red and not on recall. No money out of pocket, just an even exchange.

curious how you got a cash refund? Mine are definitely on the recall list and I would 100% prefer a cash refund so I can buy some pro-lifts instead.

We have a special line in our HF to exchange these. Need to get there at the opening to get the exchanges done. I just went and got a Gift card. Will exchange once the initial rush is gone.

I did not make a scene. I argued rationally.

I had a pair of non recall stands and a pair of recall stands. They offered to exchange 1 pair of recall stands for new non recall stands.

So I laid the pieces of both models on the counter and asked him to show me the difference between the stand that can kill me, and the stand that won't. He could not show or tell me what the difference was. So I told them I felt like both types were dangerous and I didn't want another new set. Manager said "I undertand" and gave me cash refund for both sets.

"These things are dangerous" is a pretty valid return excuse to me.

true that, I don't want to wander around looking for junk to buy with a gift card when I could have used that money for well made jack stands elsewhere. Doesn't seem fair. Guess it's my fault for thinking a simple thing like a jackstand couldn't be fucked up by HF.
