Well, a lack of available overtime and a move to eliminating debt, put my welding plans on hold.
I'm going to put a gun or two up for sale and use the funds to pick up all the gear. The MPV210 is completely out of my price range now (am I mistaken, or did the price go up considerably on this?)
I should have avoided this thread a little longer, but I have things needing gluing!
Great thread here and great contributions everyone!
    Thanks.

I'd feel way happy if you used 14 gauge. The only thing I use 1/8" for is the tongue and the 2nd cross member that the tongue is anchored to.

No senset owing that extra weight if not needed.

I guess I got it good. I have 4 cans and only pay $25 every 10 years for a hydro and around $100 per fill.

I really hate these topics. It seems the prices for cover gases are always all over the place depending on the region.

So it sounds like you own the tanks, not lease them. My local place will only let you own up to 80, which is why I had that size before. Compared to what I was paying for the 80 though, I’ll come out way ahead price wise with Big Bertha. Assuming I regularly use it and don’t end up paying an annual fee for a tank that just sits there.

    Yes.

I was actually told I could start my own commercial account, even though I don't have a business. So that's what I did. I still pay cash when I exchange cans. I have cans from several different suppliers that have gone out of business of the years. Air Gas here has not given me an issue yet. (of course its been a year since I've been in there, so things could have changed)

The Hobart 210 has been around the same price as when i bought it a few years ago from what Ive seen. Really watch for sales and coupons since it is sold so many places and you can usually get it for cheaper than list. But you should be able to get it for around the 850 (or less) shipped to your door range if you are patient

Thankfully I don't use as much of that. I think at around 900 lbs of pressure.

Hello big Bertha. Next project is a new welding cart lol I’ll pick up the steel next week and get more free casters from work.

Instead of making a new cart, you should think about chaining it to a wall and just buy a longer hose for the regulator.

I like this for a production environment. For a consumer that might have the machine down for 2 weeks for example, it's prone to waste cover gas.

That long gas line can leak out a lot of gas between the reg and the solinoid gas valve.

Some solinoid gas valves leak by, some leak nothing by. You need to decide for yourself.

I agree with koditten, plus... it’s nice to keep a cart as mobile as possible in a garage for home use. Having a gas line and a power cord may get really annoying.

Anyone have any advice on practicing a good technique for clean welds? I have my tank and everything else finally going to start my practice on scrap pieces before doing anything larger. Also grabbed this for cutting
