I don't think you could save me, but you may be able to shorten my sentence.

But I'm just putting it out there that I'm innocent on whatever charges.

You know...in case I ever end up in the hole. Most likely for posting something horribly inappropriate on accident in genpop.

    Yeah, I knew that.
    Time to lay eggs.
But that didn't fit my feeble joke about the Snapping Turtle crossing the road.

Dunno about other turtles, but Snappers are good eating.
We'd catch them on the farm every year this time.

    Story time.

Hey @Tractorman , I'm curious about your farming practices.

For the benefit of the non-farmers here, I'll go into some detail...

Most farms around here are farmed by Mennonites any more.
They're not big on fertilizers or pesticides /herbicides.
I've spoken with many of them.
(I shoot their groundhogs, and they let me hunt their land).

What many of them do is this:
    Traditional mixed farming.
Dairy herd, henhouse, some pigs and beef cattle...big gardens, some for themselves, but lots of produce for roadside stands.
Those in the know buy their seasonal produce and beef /pork and eggs from the Mennonites.

They cut a lot of hay, mostly for their milk cows.
Maybe a field or two for soybeans.
But most of what they plant is Winter Wheat and Corn.
The Wheat is planted in Autumn, of course, and gets well rooted before going dormant during Winter.
This gives it a big head start over weeds in the Spring.
It's all harvested by late June and they bale the straw for cattle bedding, with some for sale.

They spread all the liquid manure they've been saving in their holding tanks.
    Then they plant corn.
The hybrid seed varieties these days grow fast and allow for double cropping with Wheat.
Some ends up as silage for feeding the dairy cows over Winter.
The rest is field Corn, pretty much all harvested by November.

Then they plow, partly for weed control.
Then more manure and they start over again with Winter wheat.

Like I said, they're not big on fertilizer or pesticide /herbicide.
I suppose as a result their yields are less than they might be.
But they show what can be done with traditional mixed farming.
I gotta admit, I like the Mennonites.

    Oh, I forgot:
Their hay fields and pastures are full of butterflies. (no pesticides).
Some also plant clover and keep a few beehives.

My neighborhood, downtown San Jose, is crazy right now. Protestors and rioters. I keep hearing flash grenades. It's on the news.
