Congrats, unfortunately I have both of you beat but not by design or desire. As of yesterday my last chance of work for this year was canceled due to COVID-19, which wasn't a surprise I was just waiting on the final decision. I was hoping to work four more years (until 70) and maybe longer on a much smaller scale. Unfortunately with any return of this virus in the fall will be the final decision to stay retired. Not that I do not have a large enough 'Honey-Dew' list but I was hoping to go a little longer and start giving back within my industry for all the good it has presented me. Have a great day, this isn't a negative, slight bummer but life changes and we move on..

You both do know you are not really retiring and will likely be busier now than before - LOL

I had an amazing 26 year career as an active duty Army officer and 16 years in higher education - the last 8 as president of the college. Both were stressful in different ways and this last 6 months at the college have been a real challenge. I still miss the Army every day and I know I'm going to miss my leadership team at the college, the rest of the faculty and staff and, especially, the students. But, I also know that life is always shorter than we want it to be and I've had enough close calls in my Army life to realize none of us are guaranteed tomorrow - hell, when you can visit the Smithsonian American History Museum in DC and your uniform is in a memorial exhibition and still be alive to see it, you know you're on borrowed time. Lots to do, just on my own time.

Good morning all. My plans for today got off to a bad start. I had planned to get up at the crack of noon but the neighbors beside me and behind me got out early with their leaf blowers to clean up all the leaf debris from yesterday's storms that moved through here.

I've been out playing in the shop again. Working on a custom seam ripper for my mom.

I received a debit card in the mail, not quite sure why really. Pay our taxes quarterly so the IRS has all our bank info. Anyway, we got to looking into the debit card and the issuing bank can make some good money from fees. Supposedly 4 million debit cards are going out. If the average person that uses their debit card has to pay 5 dollars in user fees ...well that adds up to a lot of money for the issuing bank to collect. Just thinking outloud

    Morning all:
I got the check, but from what I've seen there are multiple ways to use the debit card without incurring any fees.
If I had received the card I would have made one transaction and transferred the money into the bank account instead of using it piecemeal.

Good morning all, rained all night. Nice morning, birds chirping, clear skies but more thunder-boomers this afternoon. Have a great and safe day everyone

I'm happy for the rain we're getting here yesterday and today. The grass I planted a week ago is finally starting to pop through, hurrah!

If I'd planted grass, it would all be down the street. 3" of rain Wednesday (plus another 1 1/2" last weekend), 3 gully washer downpours today. After 2nd one, we'd received almost 1.5". don't know how much we've gotten from this last down pour. News is saying could have been 4"

Good morning ,everyone, and Happy Friday to those of us still doing the work week thing!
:eek::eek: That's a lot of rain! Any flooding?

Yesterday turned out to be gorgeous - mix of sun and clouds and low 80s. I'm working from home but slowly turning things over to my executive VP who is replacing me and trying to use up some vacation time since I wot let the college reimburse me for whatever I have left. So I took the afternoon off...mostly...and spent time at the pool. rains started about 3:30 but we just got a quick downpour of shower off and on for a few hours and that was about it.

Today I think I'll wash cars and spend time at the pool - save grass cutting for tomorrow when it's only supposed to be about 60 for the high.

    I’m tired, I’m sore, but I’m lucky.
It could be a whole lot worse.

    Morning all:

 Sue, yea, that's a lot of rain! When I looked for arrowheads I would hope for that type of rain, always could find them afterwards.

Hang in there Mike, as you said, it could be a whole lot worse.

:woot:Got a surprise in the mail yesterday, a rebate from my insurance co. The letter attached stated that because of reduced vehicle usage, and fewer miles driven due to what's going on, they decided to issue a "dividend check", only $45, but thanks I'll take it.

Well, here I sit, last day of turkey and hardly went out, I had my chance! :(

I haven't seen one here in days and two weeks ago they were all over our property. There is a male pheasant that's taken over the vally here - have heard him crowing for days and last evening he was in the back yard strutting his stuff.

:pccoffee:  Good morning 60's/wannabes/Susan! I put a new cabin air filter in our new-to-us wagon yesterday, and when I pulled the interior panel down I discovered two bare wires dangling in space. A bit more investigation showed that they went to a temperature sensor for the HVAC system, and the connector they went into was ripped clean in half. Somebody must have ripped the panel out with a good bit of force at some point in the past. The good news is now I know the cabin filter was changed at least once. The bad news is I have to fix this fiddly little connector, then get it to reconnect, then figure out a way to prevent it all from happening the next time I pull the panel out. Yay I guess.

We've had that happen. Except it ended up in our driveway, which was gravel, which meant we had a nice new grass driveway. :annoyed:

I'm afraid if I let mine go another day I'll need a machete to get out to the shed. And I just cut it last Monday. Last week's weather must have been ideal for grass growing...

Ssssh! It's still 2020 -- the way this year has been going, I wouldn't tempt fate!

We got one too. The insurance company sent us mail telling us they were doing it, then more mail telling us it was coming, and finally it came. I think they spent more on telling us about it than the check is worth.

My youngest daughter's "illegal" wedding. 14 people. Absolutely gorgeous location hillside view at sunset last night.

It simply doesn't get any better. The pastor was great, the vows they wrote, he declared were some of the best he had ever heard. Wife made the beautiful tasty orange cake and chocolate dipped strawberries, and some champagne flowed and they were off in his 2019 Tacoma.

My daughter and her husband - I could not be prouder as the move to Astoria for his first Coast Guard assignment after the academy. My daughter may work at the hospital there.

That's me with my butt toward the camera. The usual.
