Annoying Driver door is open ringing after truck is turned off

Does anyone know how to turn off the annoying ringing that comes on when I turn off my truck and open the driver door?? It literally will just ring and ring and ring unless I shut it and open again. Doesn’t matter if my lights are on or not And doesn’t happen to any passenger doors

I know that if you shut the truck off with the door open it will ding at you. If you shut it off with the door closed and then open the door it won’t do that

 

Mine is doing that tho, it happens when I open the door after I turn off the truck

 

That is kinda weird. Does it happen every time you shut off the truck and then open the door?

 

YESSSSS lol it’s been driving me insane the last 3 months

 

If I ever get the timing wrong and open the door before the truck is off, I'll just reach down and push the button. Easy peasy. That or pull the cluster and rip the speaker out.

 

Push the button? Definitely wanted to rip the speaker out when i was gathering my work shit after a day of driving to clients lol

 

Do you open the door ‘immediately’ after shutting off the truck? Mine does it too if I don’t wait a second or two

 

Honestly I’m not sure. I usually grab my crap (2 phones and drink cup) first but I’m about to go outside and do some experiments

 

Mine does this too and it’s the most annoying thing! I am brand new to Tacomas and figured this was common...glad to know I’m not the only one who would love a fix.

 

the button is the black sensor in the door jam that detects the door open/closed. Push it. If the sound doesn’t go away; then it’s bad. Your truck appears to be brand new so bring it in for the dealer to swap out.

Best to turn off engine and then open door to prevent this

I’ll try the button thing to see if it is faulty. I would add this is similar to getting out of your car with the key still in it and it beeping. The only difference I see is there is no physical key in the ignition, other keyless cars I’ve driven don’t do this, and mine still does it if I bring the car to a stop and push button off before opening the door.

I figured there may be a setting that can be turned off (similar to setting all 4 doors to unlock when you grab your handle or turning off the seatbelt beep), but haven’t researched yet.

guessing you have a push button ignition/smart key. the chime is saying the key is still in the auto. you can have the dealer disable this, or download the techstream app and do it yourself. Ski

 

Listen for the electric steering lock when u open the door. No lock, I just bump the button.

 

Looking at the customizing features in the 2020 Owners Manual, it appears the buzzer can only be turned off by using Techstream.

However, it appears the buzzer volume can be adjusted to off or low using either the multi-information display or the multimedia system.

 

I hate that when you shut off the truck it instantly turns off your radio.
