I’ve had 3 Tacoma’s and always go with 5W-30 Mobil1 at 5K intervals with the factory Toyota filter. They are cheaper and higher quality than most aftermarket filters.

What really pisses me off is the lack of effort Toyota made in changing Owners Manuals. All they did in Canada was change Miles to Kilometres. Hell of a difference between 5k miles & 5k kilometres. Pretty lame is all I gotta say.

Don't be alarmed if it gets dark quickly. That's because of it's high detergent additives. Perfectly normal and DOES NOT effect it's other properties.

We all know our engine will outlive the frame, especially if you live in the rust belt.

No stones thrown here. The Fram Ultra is actually the darling of the Bobistheoilguy site. Very robust fiter for $10. NAPA synthetic is rebranded Valvoline synthetic. Excellent oil. Just got a great deal on a jug myself. Couldn't pass it up.

I'll use M1 only when I can find it on sale or with a rebate.

That goes to show you that it's not particularly important. We live in the age of excellent modern oils.

My co-worker has an '08 4.0 with 300k on it. We typically park right next to each other. His engine sounds exactly like my '15 with 74k on it. Lately he's been using Pennzoil High Mileage synthetic. But before that he said...."whatever was the cheapest".

Wait a second. That should be 6.6 liters and 402 meters.

Another oil thread repeating the same things as all the other hundreds of oil threads on this site. What most of this boils down to is “I USE”. I use this, I use that , therefore because I use it , it’s great and you should use it too.
In reality it makes no, zero, nada difference whether you use Dino or synthetic other than you can go longer intervals using synthetic. And the brand whether you use Castro, Penns, Valvolene or what ever makes no difference. No ones engine has ever failed because they used Dino as opposed to synthetic. As long as you use a quality oil with proper additives and correct viscosity and you change oil at least at recommend intervals, it makes not a damn bit of difference.
These arguments over the “best” oil have raged for almost 100 years. I’m not even sure what’s meant by the “best oil”.
And lastly if someone talks about their oil being tested by Blackstone, remember the test results only apply to your vehicle, your driving habits, your driving conditions. Results will differ by vehicle even if the vehicles are identical.

But its so much more fun to throw around claims with zero actual data. That way nobody can question my use of fresh squeezed baby oil and coffee filters.
