Interesting... Actually, very interesting.. perhaps it is, but whatever I do if it actually is injectors indeed I need to make sure they are PnP OE style because the adapter stuff will definitely be a no go because of smog.

I don't mind doing the work if need be to get this right, but I definitely don't want to mess around come emissions inspections time which is in about 2 months.

    Correct!

It's possible they're the problem, but I'm not at this point convinced they are. Here's why..

You were the first to use this intake setup from the FJ. We did the usual stuff to get the MAF re-calibrated. I got it pretty close, but was having issues dialing things in as MAF voltages increased (as fuel demands are on the rise too). The MAF calibration that I worked remotely just off casual driving logs was within 1-2g/sec in a good range of the MAF curve, and 4-5g/sec out in a few other select areas. Meaning, We were able to damn near replicate the Toyota factory MAF calibration in street conditions.

My thoughts are.. If the injectors had a blockage or flow restriction, that blockage would affect both low pulse-width (low MAF voltage) and high pulse-width (high MAF voltage). The truck seems to run just fine at lower MAF voltages so I really don't believe we would have been able to replicate the factory data if their was a blockage. I'm hesitant to say it's injectors at this point, though I won't rule that out depending on future testing.

First things first. We need to return it back to a mild state of modification and run a 100% vetted tune to rule out any chance of ECU limiters or calibration. Once we get data from that test, what we see there will determine where we need to probe next.

Excellent info and breakdown from the man himself. More data tonight! I'm determined to figure out what this is, so whatever it takes.. I just want to get back into safe ranges.

Shit bolted onto other shit, and junk.
they sell with or without. You can splice them into the stock harness. They will be hidden and easy to pass inspection I think, but then I drink a healthy dose of Prop 65 every night.

yes. mine just have the wiring adapter clips. once the blower is off it took me 15min. to swap them.
i could easily swap back. get fic's and some orange tape to cover the sin. done and done.

Got a picture of them? The color doesn't matter to me, because that is not specified in the verbiage by TRD. As long as they 100% PnP. I'd really rather not splice in 6 individual plugs. That's 12 wires I'd have to solder and heat shrink and make look all OE like to pass inspection.

Passenger side is now exposed because of the TRD intake.

i dont have a pic. visualize a 3" wire adapter clip similar to a urd maf extension wire. i highly doubt a tech would spot it. i bought the adapters for the same reason as yourself. not cutting factory wires when not mandatory.

crazy thunderstorm out now but i got a quick snap @12TRDTacoma 20200530_092150.jpg
guess my braided meth lines would be inspection violations to distract the injector factor. im probably banned from california anyway.

Just drive to San Jose for your smog....or Hayward or San Leandro.....

The sketchier the part of town...the better your chances of passing visual. Where jobs and livelihood are less important than cash money.

@12TRDTacoma if you are unsuccessful in Concord, let me know if you want to try San Jose in 2 mos

Black electrical tape, tuck under the existing wire loom, new wire loom for the injector adapters, a small cover plate, etc.

There are easy ways to disguise the FIC goodness.

So I'm looking for unmolested 2and gen Tacoma or possibly 4Runner for my kid.

Trying to keep costs below $12,000.

Anybody got a line on one?
