Finishing up the rear axle seal/wheel bearing R&R this morning. Had a blown seal on D side and brakes were a slimy mess and WB was shot on that side as well. New seals, bearings and brakes both sides. The messiest job I've had yet, hate drum brakes.

I picked up a super nice 20T air/hydraulic press off of Craigslist so I could do this job, added a foot switch and it made the job a breeze. Press paid for itself on this first job. Next comes the 5spd trans rebuild.

BIG Thanks to @Timmah! for the videos and the humor!

    secret stuff.
Yesterday: Drive train vibration resolution. Belt had popped and was shaking the shit out of the truck over 40mph. Tire was trying to become a pretzel when dismounted!

    New shoes:

Today: Rear diff u-joint that was also in need. Thought it was the center bearing and this u-joint that was the truck shaking culprits which ended up being a tire. Replaced anyway.

Just spent 2.5 hours pulling the supercharger and valve covers off and some cleaning.
Monday will get the valve covers painted red.

Going to do the valve gasket while everything is off too.

Finally installed the remanufactured OEM CV I ordered several months ago. Had a leaky boot on my FEQ axle that finally gave up the ghost.

That was a perfect opportunity to swap out that problematic diff bearing with the ECGS sleeve!

Started replacing my upper balljoints today and everything was goong smoothly until it came time to press the new ones in. Decided that pulling the whole spindle off was going to be the way to go after I couldn’t fit my c press in the wheel well.

That was until I realized I didn’t have a 35mm socket to get the cv out....

Sanding is the best way. Some people use acetone, but it still looks crappy.

With my luck I'll be doing that one again soon, damn cheap parts store CV axle boots tear if you look at them wrong. Part of the reason I got a reman OEM axle for the passenger side. Gonna pick up another to have ready for the driver side next time.

Wheels on, brakes bled and adjusted, super happy with the results of this job! Rear end feels MUCH better with new bearings and it's very nice to have rear brakes again, AND now the E-Brake works!

As an added bonus, I reinstalled the cruise control and got that working as well this afternoon.
