I had that light after going through some mud and water. The auto shop I took it too wanted a $400 or something like that to replace the alternator. I replaced it myself with a used one for $70, but the light was still on. Turns out there is a little 6 volt fuse that can blow and turn that light on. I believe it's one in the engine compartment. You may want to check that first.

Which fuse? I really would rather not replace an alternator haha

Yup.....a 12 yo and a 6 yo. Both daughters. Keep in mind that i am the furthest from a speed demon, haven't been in an accident or had a speeding ticket in 13 years, and am more focused what my truck can do for me and my family than how fast it can go. I sleep like a baby.

    Too many to list.
I've gotta drive it without it until I get everything squared away so I have a few days to decide. I'm replacing the outer tie rods, new CV axle passenger is leaking too so the shop needs to do good on that.

In other news, I broke the bolt off the sway bar mount. So I ended up going to home Depot 3 times this morning to get stuff. I only live .20 mile from hd. My wife just pointed out that I have been walking around with a huge hole in my shorts...rear end all this time. On the upside I removed the broken bolt. :D

Also, took a steel brush and gave the underneath a spa day.

I checked under the hood. It's a 7.5 amp and should be the one labeled ALT-S.

Finally replaced my horrible rear suspension. Upgraded with a OME medium duty leaf pack, extended length 5100’s, u bolt flip kit and super bump stops.

Thanks to everyone on here who is knowledgeable and contributes. I really appreciate it. I am not a mechanic and have been able to learn and get a few things done because of this site. So thanks again.

I am currently working on the front end. Replacing both springs and shocks with adjustable 5100’s and OME 885 springs. My stock UCA is spring loaded downward when loose. Truthfully I thought they were a free flowing part. I have seen another video where it springs up. Any thoughts on what is actually supposed to be like?

I’m using the route of undoing the UCA vs LCA and could not get the old set up out because of the downward tension. That and the sway bar was still in the way. I realized that I needed to undo both UCA’s first in order to move the sway bar more out of the way. But I stripped the cotter bolt on the other side and am waiting for the wife’s car to get home to run out and get a new one. Then will have to grind it off carefully. If I mess up I don’t know if you can replace that bolt or have to get new UCA.

Also anyone else running the rear set up have issues with the e brake line? It was to tight to connect it when I had no tires on. Once I put the tires on I could bolt it in place. But I assume if I get into full flex or doing work without a tire on that it would rip.

So any thoughts on those things would be greatly appreciated.

I am a speeding freak, both kids are grown, I haven't received a ticket in over 3 decades, I haven't been in accident since my vehicle was rearended in the late 90's, and I'm focused on using my truck to make money and smiles - except at the gas pump.

Oh yeah, I love the way it handles without the sway bar.

It's going to get a bath today. My next bath isn't until the 6th...

I checked that one and the rest, they were all good. Replaced the alternator today. Back to normal!

Proud of myself, its the first relatively in depth repair I've done almost entirely myself!

Installed some rally armors! I prefer no flaps, but I also drive about 500 miles a week on gravel roads. Install wasn’t too bad once I got everything lined up and the hardware figured out.

The Tacoma worked a little today but my day is filled with paperwork for the most part. 455 Olds is back from the engine builder and ready to go back into its jet boat.
