Best mower I have ever owned. The Kawasaki 17hp Vtwin is a great engine. Then
again, for 3 grand it ought to be.

I voted other because if we are talking about zero-turns then I like dixie chopper, kubota, and exmark. If it is a normal riding mower I would have to go with a John Deere.

The craftsman tractor I bought when we got our house was such a POS. Every year it was something else breaking. Finally it just stopped mid- mowing and refused to start back up. (It was 5 years old) After replacing god knows how many parts and it still refused to start I totally lost it and in my blind rage charged over to the John Deere dealership and got me a nice new rider. My poor neighbor just knew he could get the stupid craftsman to start so I let him mess with it. Tractor finally got the best of him.

I heart my Honda engine on the Troy Bilt I bought. Looked at Toro, Deere, and Gravely zero turns...but my yard isn't big enuf to spend 2500+ for a mower...

Kubota Diesel is what my boss has that I mow with and it is amazing. ZD221 model. Zero turn, we have a lot of yards and he can mow for a week or two on one tank of gas. That thing gets great mileage so to speak.

We've had to replace our John Deere riding moser from Lowe's now three times, because it didn't cut the grass even, the deck bent, etc. Don't buy a John Deere from Lowe's we are going to take it back again under Warranty and get something else.

It really depends on what type of grass you are mowing and the terrain.

For 21" ers Toros and Hondas are the best mulching mowers, and Snapper Hi-vacs are the best baggers.

IMO Walkers leave the best cut of a rotary zero turn rider.

In the reel mower department, probably a Locke.

In commercial walk behinds, is six of one half dozen of the other.

In general all the major brands make good mowers: Scag, Toro/Exmark, Gravely, Ferris/Snapper Pro, Bobcat...etc.

It also depends on the dealer support in your area. Just look at what the local LCOs have on their trucks/trailers.

Deere makes good equipment but they are way over priced. Kinda like Bose speakers...Its good stuff but you can get a lot more for your money and just as good, if not better quality elsewhere for the same price.

    I personally have a Snapper Pro 36" commercial walk-behind.

Don't buy any mowers from the Big box stores, aside from the Toro and Honda push mowers they sell...most of it is junk. Btw you are never going to find a riding mower/lawn tractor that leaves a good cut. For the money you are going to spend on a rider, you can get a low hours used commercial walk behind w/ a sulky for the same money. It will last you way longer and leave a far superior cut than any homeowner grade equipment you will ever buy. Homeowner grade equipment was engineered to run 1-2 hours a week X 26 weeks a year = 26-52 hours a year. Commercial equipment was engineered to run 40-50 hours a week. Look on craigslist and you would be surprised at the commercial equipment you could buy for the money you would drop on a shitty lawn tractor at the big box store.

Times a billion. I got my gs30(pre G15 but basically the same thing) with a sulky for $1200 otd. It has been super reliable and still is. It's built like a tank and not like the chinese feel that the home depot stuff has.

Bad Boy Mowers ZT series. We have the 60" deck. Cuts my 5 acre yard in 2.5 hours

Only complaint is the ride is a little rough, and the thing doesn't have much for suspension other than the big tires. Used to take me 6 hours to mow the lawn with a 3 point 60" finish mower on the diesel tractor.

Lower the air pressure in the tires a little bit. It will give a slightly smoother ride.
