Can I expect a better price on 2020 TRD ORSB 4x4?

Just peeped a 2020 Toyota TRD OR (short bed) 4x4 in the cement color. I’m trading in a car that I owe $10k on and the dealer trade in is valued at $7500 (that that into consideration). The lowest price I could get was $39,613.16 out the door.

 

Buy a 2nd gen if you must have a truck. Sounds like your financial circumstances do not lend well to a brand new vehicle.

 

I bought the Lexus used and it’s worth about $9k if selling private party...$7500 dealer. I just thought $39,613.00 seemed like a fair deal. I’d rather have a 2015 with low miles, but it’s only about 10-12k less and the interest rate on financing is increased therefore I only save about $50 a month.

 

Buy a Frontier.

 

I understand the people that say never roll money over into a new vehicle but then again I don’t understand them. Sure that’s never ideal. But say your vehicle is having issues or it’s gonna cost a lot for maintenance or you need new tires etc. 2500 added to the loan may be 20-30 dollars a month to the total cost of the loan. Which isn’t much per month especially if your hooping on the 0% gravy train. Also if your older vehicle interest is more then the new truck your saving a few pennies there too. I’m not a fan of the third gens but they are by far the best looking truck even though the cost is outrageous.

 

I should also mention that I’m putting $7k down, therefore financing $32k.

What's the MSRP? OTD is pretty useless because tax, title, license vary from state to state along with trade in. You should aim for 10% off MSRP. The rest is going to be unique to your situation.

What are they pricing the new truck at before trade, tax title and license? rebate or are you taking the 0%, lots of factors to this, I'd take some time and read through the 2020 What are you Paying thread.

 

Hey man, sure not trying to tell you what to do. Think on this. New you have to pay destination fee, 1100 and something. Taxes are highest for the first 3 years, insurance is highest for the first 3 years. You get a warranty for 36 months. Let someone else take the hit of depreciation, pay the property taxes, and sales taxes while it is at its highest value.
I got 10k out of a 2012 Frontier trade, 27,800 for my 2017 TRD Offroad DCSB 6Spd Manual. 5.04% interest, and also put 7000 down. This way I will never be upside down and always owe less than it is worth.

Again not telling you what to do, just look around. I walked out on a new 2020 Zero percent Toyota of Cool Springs. Toyota had already approved me. They wouldn't give what my trade was worth. I got a few little scratches, but saved enough that I could justify it in my mind.

 

I owed 6k on my last truck when I was shopping for the Tacoma. Dealerships were offering 1500 for my trade in, so I would have been rolling 4500 over. That sounded like a bad call to me, so I ended up being patient and selling it privately. Got 6500 for it and had 500 more dollars to put down on the Tacoma, making my monthly a little bit lower rather than quite a bit higher.
