Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

This is why this thread gets so out of hand - 1 simple question and everyone goes nuts. Oh the irony.

tune packs are for the Vf tuner. he was not talking about original tune method. again, all perception and comprehension. Ski

 

Long time lurker that is tired of all of the coddling and suck ups. In no other platform would anyone ever get away with this lack of delivery.

All of this talk about being patient... How about OvTune starts delivering on what he has sold and stops overwhelming himself with new unfinished products? I didn’t pay for something to be put on the back burner awaiting development t of new products.

You guys are all huge push overs.

You should clearly take your business to the other 3rd gen Tacoma tuners. Let us know how that works out for you.

Wow, this tread has officially become a dumpster fire.

 

Yes it is frustrating when a product is sold literally 6+ months ahead of being ready for release, an on top of that continuing to sell new products leaving customers WHO HAVE PAID out to dry. It does not take 6 months to develop a tune on a platform you are supposed to be an expert on.

So far the 2020 Tune can be summed up as a pedal commander and broken ECT functionality.

Have any of you actually HAVE a 2020 or attempted towing using the OvTune?

 

Well, I don't have a 2020 but I have towed using OVT. I've towed on the 04B13 OEM map as well. OVT is absolutely a huge win. I also have a 6MT though

 

My 2020 is OVTuned and I towed my boat yesterday. Huge improvement over stock. No ECT for me though as I have the 6MT.

 

You can go back to stock you know. I get you’re frustrated, but unless you owned an earlier 3rd gen before your 2020 you’ve been waiting maybe 6 months. Every new ECU version Toyota releases has updates and changes that require OV to update and wait for test results from customers, OV doesn’t own every year Tacoma to test internally. I can’t speak for others, but I’m happy with the tunes I have access to from OV. What are your expectations?

And again, a Google search returns alternatives to tune your truck. You should try them and report back. If tuning these trucks was easy, there would be several people offering products that have satisfied customers.

 

You purchased a product in development phase. Notice the title of the thread?
Some of you are some kinda stupid.

 

In fairness the product isn't purchased on this site, it's purchased on the OVtune site. He doesn't allow any returns or refunds, and when I bought mine there was no working final tune for the 2019 as 1.5 had been pulled on the 2019's. There was no disclaimer stating that on the purchase page.

The information is certainly out there, but it isn't well-organized and it isn't where it should be. I get why people are angry, I was certainly angry when I found out that the product I bought (1.5) was not safe to use on my 2019 and I had to use beta software. This isn't a fucking Kickstarter after all, you are exchanging money for a (presumably) working product.

This thread has taken on such a weird culture loaded with extreme whiners on one end and extreme boot-lickers on the other with a lack of rational folks who can look at both sides.

Edit: Also, you guys with manuals telling him that you've towed on OVtune really aren't being helpful. The concern is over the way that torque converter locking is done on the OVtune, so your experience is about as useful as used toilet paper.
