Nonsense. I've owned dozens of cars with sunroofs, never had a single leak.

@Nunya Bizness i think it offers the inside a real nice look. Best of both worlds. The truck is badass and I don’t think the “look” of having one takes anything away from the trucks outside appearance at all. Inside it clearly enhances the ride and being outdoors. Yea it’s a sunroof in a truck, it is personal preference but it’s still a badass truck. Think some dudes who would maybe prefer not to have one Might notice but chicks dig it 100%. Tacoma also has a strong so cal. Following and the truck is also a major “beach cruiser”. The guys that surf and sun appreciate it. Maybe the guys who are backwoods w a huge dipper in do not lol.

Not much on the 07 yet. 18 is gone, but was a greata truck. TRD Pro grill, Gator FX3, Homelink mirror, Black out badges & exhaust tip, Remote start. Future TRD exhaust, skid plate.
I've had lots of sunroofs with no leaks, love having one in my Tacoma. Wish it had rear glass like a Tundra that went down.
My sister does have a Rav4 that the roof shattered, that was not fun, but any glass can get hit.
I am 6'1" and have no problems.
(Full disclosure: I am in West Texas, so not a lot of rain)

I'm a fan of the one I have now. Combined with the sliding rear window its great air movement and seams more quiet than the windows.

    https://cars.usnews.com/cars-trucks/sunroof-vs-moonroof

A Popular Mechanics article published in September 1937 heralded an automotive innovation: the sunroof. “Getting a sun tan while you ride is possible if your automobile is equipped with a sliding roof like that a photographer discovered recently on the streets of an American city,” the magazine said. “The roof slides in a tight seam which prevents rain from entering when it is closed.

Eighty years after the sunroof made its debut atop a Nash Motors model, the humble panel has been eclipsed by another: the moonroof, which first appeared in 1973 on the Lincoln Continental Mark IV. But the terms have become so intermingled that even industry veterans have trouble distinguishing the two.

“These days, there’s not much difference between a sunroof and a moonroof,” said Nelson Ireson, senior editor at Automobile. “It used to be that sunroofs were metal rather than glass, and could open the cabin to the air, while moonroofs were transparent or tinted glass panels that could have a sliding cover and need not, but might slide open. Modern designs are so varied as to defy categorization, with nearly any imaginable variant and combination of opening, sliding, transparent or electronically variable, and panoramic roofs available.”

Eager dealers and glossy new car brochures nowadays seem to use the terms interchangeably to sell a feature, usually optional, that provides some exposure to the elements without the drawbacks of a convertible. “I always just say ‘sunroof’ if a car has a hole in its top,” said Karl Brauer, executive publisher of Kelley Blue Book. “I believe every moonroof is also technically a sunroof but not the reverse.”

In general, a sunroof is a panel – either glass or opaque – in a vehicle’s roof that pops up or slides to the side to let air or light into the cabin. A moonroof is a type of sunroof: a glass panel that slides between the vehicle’s roof and headliner.

For car shoppers, the main question should be not about technical definitions but whether they’re getting the features they want, said Jamie Page Deaton, managing editor of U.S. News Best Cars. “At US News, we just call the feature whatever the manufacturer is calling it,” she explained. “Sunroofs and moonroofs seem to be caught up in an overall automotive trend where old designations are being tested and stretched, which is why we now have four-door coupes and crossover SUVs. No matter what you call things, though, consumers have more choices available to them when they car shop, which is always a good thing.”

Starting to regret not choosIng the sunroof model...
Well at least I have my Meso's Overhead Molle Rack.

My family used to have two Cressidas, one with a sunroof and one without. Also the 91 Landcruiser had a sunroof too.
Between the two Cressidas, I noticed the one without the sunroof was much quieter.

I’m really glad I have it. With the power sliding rear window it really makes the experience. The flow through stops the buffeting you typically get with a sunroof at speeds over 30. Love it. Moonroof is a bonus.

But I learned to make sure the truck is relatively clean of tree debris, pollen etc because that stuff all ends up in the cab.

I have to disagree with you on that one. I use mine all the time. I've had them in quite a few of my vehicles over the years. And really missed not having one in my 2004 Tacoma Extra Cab TRD OR. Never had an issue with leaks with one exception and it wasn't a sun/moon roof. I bought a new '78 Mustang Fastback with T-Bar convertible roof panels. They leaked like sieves.

    Pro: Sun
    Cons: Zip

I like mine, even in hot ass Tampa. During the summer Leave it cracked and you can see the heat vapors escape through the top while parked. In the cooler weather leave it cracked while driving and it'll pull air through the vents without too much noise.

I don't have one on my truck but wish I did. Had one on my Gen 2 and used it quite a bit. Also use the one on my wife's Avalon a lot. I like them. If you don't enjoy a drive on a nice weather day with a bit of fresh air zooming around, then sun roof's not for you. But please don't say I'll never use one just because you don't.

After owning 3 Tacoma (on 3rd one now), having a moonroof is amazing. Wish I got one sooner but that’s just me.

I love my sunroof. Having it open or vented with the rear slider open gives you just as much airflow as rolling the windows down without the noise and buffeting. I hope it holds up, I use it a lot.

My first 3rd gen (2017) had a sunroof. When I got my 2020 I specifically looked for one without. Thankfully you can get tech and LED without sunroof! I also have the world's longest torso, apparently, so the added headroom is super nice.
