This was the stuff I got, worked great. Looked like an exact match color wise, it was the clear coat application I effed up on lol. But this stuff is good, pricey but worth it

Second this, and it has a very good spray nozzle, as compared to most. Puts out a nice even fan pattern.

6B592BD0-4CDD-49CD-B8A2-FA852A155015.jpg Used dupli color on my fender, what color the base coat is will greatly effect the match, I did this whole fender but it was base coated black so match is only a hair off

As far as clear I used dupli color clear and it isn’t that great but I haven’t tried to buff it yet

Any paint shop can put factory paint in a spray can. If you want to bomb it, at least use the right stuff

While this is true, most will require you to buy enough of it to make it worth their time. Napa would only sell me custom color rattle cans in a 6 pack.

It’s really not as hard as you think it is. I painted this E320 trunk using two component base and clear and I had zero prior body work experience. Pressure, hardener ratios, mixing ratios, etc. is simple, just follow the directions the data sheet says. It’s really easy.

I used a $70 spray gun from harbor freight and painted it in my garage.

these 3-component automotive paint mixing cups make mixing a 10 second process. they are graduated to add each component stepwise, so if you want for instance 6:1:1 you choose the corresponding column then add cmpA to line1, cmpB to line2, then cmpC to line3.

i only touch again on this approach because buying a cheap spray gun and compressor costs not much more than having a couple custom spray cans made.

Yeah, exactly. And you get a much nicer finished product.

You can paint a car with a $14 harbor freight gun. It’s just how you use it that matters.

I’ve used paint from a company called automotive touch up. They do small bottles with brush on the lid, paint pens rattle cans and quarts. This stuff is amazing. I just ordered spray can for my
93 wrangler and this stuff lays down like glass. I paint match some ditch
Light brackets and the hardware. I dries really fast too. If you order it make sure you order the clear too. I believe they’re out of New Orleans.

I had to replace my gas door due to the hinge breaking on it and that duplicolor definitely does NOT match silver very closely. Low light, high light, it doesn't matter. You can tell my gas door is slightly darker than the rest of the truck and now I want to repaint the whole damn thing...

Yeah, you guys talked me into it. I ain’t skeered no more. Gonna get the HF 30.00, it comes w/ a regulator. That measuring cup makes things less complicated. I’m sure the guys at Napa will know what I need as far as hardner, reducer and clearcoat. Let’s see what I can screw up...

Make sure you get a bunch of filters for your air compressor so the air is dry. I had a coalescing air filter, oil/water separator, desiccant filter, and a final disposable filter at the inlet of the gun. That’s all at harbor freight.

Make sure you read the data sheet for your paint manufacturer’s product. It tells you everything from pressure, mixing ratio, flash time, pot life, etc.

I recently used this. I'm no painter but turned out pretty good after buffing. A little spendy tho but match to OEM paint is almost perfect.
