Has anyone tried the trail under the power lines that takes you to Parkdale? It starts from lolo pass rd after forestry road 16 joins lolo pass. In the gaia app it said the trail is 1600020

It will be bumpy from what I was on which was only about 1 1-2 miles and you may scrape a bit.

I find the easiest/laziest way to upload gpx files to gaia is to email them myself as an attachment and open it on my phone. Then it automatically gives the option "open with Gaia GPS" and you're set

I found that if I save the GXP file to my Google drive and open it from there the same thing happens...it automatically opens with Gaia and uploads the file into the app.

Just signed up to the Offroad recover portal. That seems like a really great idea.

Had a fun week. Went out to Mt Hood National forest 3 times. Wandered around the La Dee OHV staging area for awhile. Was looking to travel from there via forest roads to Trillium Lake. Eventually ran into part of the trail that was snow covered. It was fairly hard snow but not rock solid. There were some tracks in it. Snow came up a bit higher than the skid. Wasn't sure if I was gonna get stuck but decided I was confident that I could get myself unstuck if I did. Gandalf handled it like a camp, just plowed right though. Went though a couple section like that before seeing a section where the existing tracks would push me into branches. Decided I didn't want the scratches and turned back. Spent the rest of that day exploring other trails further south. A lot of downed trees in the area. Many cleared, but had to turn back more than a few times because of blocked roads. Decided I am gonna add show garden loppers to my off road kit. Be nice to be able to chop off branches that are gonna scratch really quickly.

Had the stock tires down to 12 PSI this time out. They were fine. I feel like they could even go lower, but I am hesitant to do so.

Some of the places I went. Forgot to turn recording on a few times.

    20200526_183348.jpg

Did a little shooting and cleaned up a spot. Wish people weren't such assholes.

    20200526_142926.jpg

Another day I decided to go explore around Trillium lake. Never been out there. Main access is blocked off. Went road by road on gaia looking for a back way in. Kept running into blocked off / closed roads. Almost gave up and eventually found a road in. Ten miles of easy forest service road right into the back of the lake area. Didn't realize it was such a developed spot. A lot like Lost lake. It was really eerie being there almost alone. Only saw a couple other people who hiked in from 26. Other than that it was completely empty. All the other forest roads in the area were blocked with trees sadly.

Went camping this weekend. Scored a bunch of free firewood before hand.

Found a great spot on a narrow trail. Never saw one person near it in 2 days. That's how I like to camp. Forgot to take any pictures (who plays with their phone while camping?). Almost certain I have a few new scratches from the trail to the spot. Failed to prepare for rain (none in the forecast) unfortunately. Thunderstorm rolled in midafternoon and it didn't let up. Found out the tent was leaking. Decided to call it and head home a day early. Fun times.

Mentioned maybe setting up a meet up this coming up Sunday but it turns out that weekend is not gonna work for me. Think the 14th would work, or I can even do a weekday if there is interest.

Dogs were very tired from camping.

Anyone of you spent much time up goat mountain? I’ve been to the top and explored a little, but seems like I am missing the more 4x4 areas. I’ve heard of recovery’s being needed in this area too. Am I just missing the more rugged area?

That's alot of free firewood! And great pic by the lake!

I have not been to any of the areas you were in (except La Dee), but would like to go out to those areas. I haven't gone because of snow and my inexperience with it, especially being out there alone. The snow I ran into in Gifford Pinchot was hard and crunchy, and super slick. I didn't venture down those roads.

12 psi, nice. Lowest I've had my stock tires is 15 psi and they did great. I usually keep em around 18-20 if I know I'll be bombing down forest roads for any amount of time and not just easing around trails.

I did part of Old Ugly trail out in Yacolt Burn today. The skid plate definitely did some work. Lol. Discovered three new trails that I didn't know existed. Two are most likely very short, and the other one might be slightly longer than those. They aren't marked with the yellow caution/difficult terrain so I'm thinking they aren't too rough. I might go back tomorrow around lunch time. Ran outta time today.
