Glad to hear, think I'm actually going to run the Dobinsons and see how they work out. If I dont end up getting the droop id like from them than selling them and going U402 stage 2.

I have a customer with the 4/2 leaf version of Dobinsons getting plenty of droop and articulation, using all of a 2.5 x 12" King mounted in the Archive shock relocation

Thanks for posting about the Dobinsons, I think they are a good option. One thing to be careful of is those stock length shocks (they appear to be), they can cause a dangerous handling situation with a big lift spring, that you have no down travel at all, something you need even on the street. This issue manifests as bouncing and bucking handling, and possibly audible topping out of the shocks.

On the spring front, I don't expect anyone to hold off on their build til I am done working on the Archive springs, I need to be properly testing the design, and they're going to be another option for good springs in addition to Deaver and Dobinsons.

Yeah, I heard some audible sounds when I semi whipped around the bend in my office small parking lot.20200526_123244.jpg
You can see where it's lifted more (subdued line/different texture or matte finish.)

What bushings did you use for dobinsons leaf pack, will energy suspension bushings work?

i just want to say i love my @ARCHIVE hammer hangers and sua kit. works as advertised. and bolts right up. i bought my deaver springs on craigslist and got the whole total chaos kit. i didn't use the ubolts or bottom plate or shakle. i have everything from the kit but the springs if anyone wants it. i can't sell it on here because i don't have 50 posts

Went with Dobinsons, the sleeves have 2 sets of holes for their hollow zerk end fitted bolt sets...apparently bypasses needing to pull them off. I didn't get their bolts. I reused my HH hardware and the front shackle OE hardware.

I did have to drill out the e brake bracket and used the front end leaf1st bracket for mounting it.

The clicking is noticed when traveling at slow speeds, like when I pulled into the bay for my state inspection and 4 wheel alignment today...I've adapted my driving so to avoid hard banking turns until I upgrade to Extended Travel Elka 2.5s

So, are deavers the leaf pack of choice when running these? How much droop do they typically give? Since I have a HC and swingout (hardshell eventually) I’m thinking the stage II’s would be what I need, since I have all that extra weight hanging off the ass end of my truck.

I have everything to do a 63 swap, but frankly I don’t have the time or energy, plus it’s a rather budget setup. I’d rather have a “bolt in” solution with good parts that are proven to work, and I see everyone raving over these HH’s...

I haven’t seen many people posting about using the archive shackles though, what’s the deal with those? Are they just too expensive for everyone or are the stock ones just as good?

I would also purchase the shock towers to match these. I reckon depending on the springs I would get, would determine if I needed 12” or 14” rear shocks.

I have the hd sua deaver springs. I am using the long @ARCHIVE shackles. I use them to to lower my ride height. I am using fox 10” tundra shocks. I have another 2 inches of down travel i am not using. archive says depending on your Set up ie sua or soa and spring choice is what makes the 14” or 12” shock choice. With my set up i think i would stuff a stock 14” shock before i hit the bumps.
I have everything that comes in a total choas kit minus the springs if you want it DM me.

Hey, Deaver U402 series is the best springs available for quality, design and function, in past 5 or 6 pages we talked about springs. OME Dakars are the poorest springs available.

Hammer hangers beat the typical 63 Chevy (actually 64") shackle plates setup in ride and handling, and still get 12"+ droop from 56" springs.
A lot of owners opt for the 3.6" shackles and they work well, and Archive uses high quality properly designed Energy suspension bushings, and the shackles foundation is a precision machined DOM tube with 1/4" wall.
I tell everyone though the truth that you don't need to buy Archive shackles to get the benefits of the Hammer hangers themselves, it's the stock hangers that are atrociously bad.

Most springs, Deaver included, will use all of a 12" shock if you don't throw away your bump travel with some of the tall Ubolt flip options out there. The Archive towers puts the top shock eye as high as possible, allowing max bump travel, and max ground clearance from a 2.5"×12" without bottoming the shocks out.

Not quite that bad but still an issue. I recommend trimming the second leaf back, about 3/4”-1”

For those running deaver u402’s and HH’s, any shims or carrier bearing drop needed?

The answer to that question is highly truck dependent.
