Ok the "snake" in the bed.

OK, so my brother and his wife and her sister go down to the farm with me. We know we have a snake problem and his wife wont stay there if she knows there is snakes (at this time she doesn't know we have snakes). We had to be careful as to not let her know what we were doing. You have to know my brother, b/c he is somewhat of a redneck. He isn't scared of anything and will do just about anything you tell him to. He has more guns than I can count. After we get to the farm he come and unlockes the back door. He grabs my arm and tells me to come here for a second. I figured he need me to bring stuff in or something. He takes me to one of the bedroom and points out what looks to be a snake under the sheets. You could see a long raised portion of sheets in the shape of an "S" so it def looked like a snake. I said fuck that, i'm going touching it. After we argued I decided I'd try and help him. I went and got my hoodie and gloves from the truck, put my hood up, and pulled the strings tight. I didn't want any more skin exposed than I could. You never know it could spit out some poison that could kill me or something lol. And you know that a hoodie/gloves is going to protect me from the snake. He went downstairs and got a shovel or something and hands it to me. I asked him what he expected me to do with this. He said he was going to raise the sheet and you're going to wack it until its dead. I refused, I didn't even want to see it let alone kill it. We both argue for about 10 min about who is going to wack it once the sheets are raised. This is all coming from my brother who is a huge outdoors man. Hunts and kills just about everything that moves. Thats why it makes it s funny. I myself am the complete opposite. My idea of camping is going down to the farm and staying in the house. Anyways, I tell him the only thing I'm going to do is pull back the sheet and run. Anything else and he is going to have to do it himself. He is in complete camo's w/ gloves and a hat/mask on. He was ready for a full out battle with this snake. We both look like complete retards but from the looks of the "s" in the bed, this snake was huge. Probably 2 1/2 inches in diameter. Nathan gets ready with the shovel to wack it (not sure how wacking a snake on a bed with sheets is going to kill it but I know I'm not touching it) I grab the corner of the sheet, and after about 5 attempts I throw the sheet back and run outside without even looking. I was scared shitless. Nathan comes out with a huge grin on his face and tells me to come inside. I really didn't want to see a dead snake but I go inside to reveal that it wasn't a snake. The last person that stayed in that bed must not have straightened up bottom sheet, and it just so happened to be in the perfect shape of an "s" and looked completely like a snake under the comforter. We both started laughing as we looked like complete retards. It might not be as funny to you guys, but everytime I think about it, I can't help but to laugh. I've had to stop writting this a few times b/c i'm laughing so hard. You have to know my brother, and thats what makes it really funny. Hope you guys can get a good laugh out of this, as everytime we all sit down and eat together, this story comes up.

Other note: Yes I have a grill, I've never used it before but its brand new so it should work. If it doesn't work I think we could always cook them on the stove down there.

Hey, not trying to hijack, but question: I have been reading a lot of threads about the TSB for the rear leaf springs. I wanted the opinions of the people near me. What do you guys think?

from what I have seen, the tsb is just another leaf added to the rear, it will raise the rear end up. Neil's sig pic. has the add a leaf (AAL) and that is how it looked until he upgraded the front suspension.
If you are not hauling any massive loads, I wouldn't worry about it.

From what I've read those who have a 2011 are having trouble getting it done. They replace the rear leaf pack w/ a 4 leaf pack instead of the 3 leaf pack. Since your truck is new, you still have some time since they only cover you while you are under 36k. Unless you haul/tow stuff I wouldn't worry about it. In my truck I had the problem where I was bottoming out on bumps w/ no load, but some people had no problems at all. I tow my boat alot and everytime I put the boat on the back I was sitting on the frame, therefore I went ahead and did a Add A Leaf. It did raise the back quite a bit thats what I had to get the 5100's for the front. If you plan on hauling/towing in the future I would recommend trying to get it done.

Ya, I don't think the TSB covers the 2011s. It just sucks that Toyota new there was a problem and still put the same springs in their new trucks. I don't do much towing as of yet, but I will. I will also be putting in loads. My truck is less than 2 weeks old and doesn't even have 500 miles on it. I bet that in 6 mo. or so they will put the 2011 on the TSB. Are there better leaf springs out there that you guys would recommend, aside from getting the 4pack from Toyota?

I went ahead and got an AAL from Toytec. The only dissadvantage to this is that you get about 2 inches of lift in the rear. This was the cheapest solution to me bottoming out all the time since I was over my 36k warranty. I think in a few months they will probably come out with a TSB for the 2011's.
