What are you thinking for front and rear so far? I think Your tires are good for now but trim that front bumper and an extra inch or two of suspension flex or articulation will help. Which tires would you go up too?

I was still leaning to 6112 front B110 rear.

If I did go 285 it'd be the yokohoma geolanders. Worked great on a LC79.

That being said I loved how the duratracs performed the entire time. Never slipped a tire due to traction (suspension travel was my limiting factor )

Maybe a 285 duratrac would've been a better idea. I'll eat a small 32" tire though in reality .5" is minimal but makes a difference

4.56 is overrated.

 

Honestly you’d be golden with a lift and skids. You could even continue to run those 265’s and be fine.

beauty of 4.30's is the 96 4runner diff thats in the rear now was a whole lot cheaper than regearing the taco diff

Hmm stupid question, the Amazon special CV boot clamps I got and the OEM one keep popping off due to the CV boot popping off or having too much play from the grease. What replacement clamps have ya'll used with success? Am I missing something with these stupid clamps lol.

 

I got ones you can tighten with a ratchet and socket, similar to these:

I'll look at my receipt when I get a chance and tell you what company I got them from. Been installed for ~20k miles and zero issue with popping loose/losing grease or any problem associated with the clamps themselves

 

Oh those sound way better than the ones that just have the small tab holding them on. Yeah let me know if you can find it.

 

Although, I just added another $280, let's call it $300 to that "cheaper way" because of a loose gear oil fill plug.

So now I'm at $800 for my factory geared 4.30 27spline elocker.

New master bearing/install kit from lowrange should be here today or tomorrow.

My speedometer is just about nuts on with 285/70/17's now and it really eases my mind not hearing the transmission constantly shift in and out not overdrive/5th.

We got some scraps that have been just laying around for 5+ years that I've been trying to think of something to use them for. We call it "puckboard" but I think it's HDPE. 3/16". Text me some dimensions and I'll see if I have anything that is close. That 4x8 sheet tho, I can't explain it disappearing so it's off limits.

@bobsuruncle I almost got set back by a too tight drain plug haha blaster and heat fixed that before it stripped it thank god

my speedo is also about dead nuts on with 285/75/17 and a manual. 2700 rpm at 70, i'm a happy camper.

 

Damn, I'm at ~2400 70mph, auto. I'll have to double check that on my way home from work. All I know is if I try to do 85, mpg goesoutthefugginwindow

 

RPM might seem a little high but my foot is barely resting on the gas pedal to keep it going 70, so more rpm's but less fuel going in the motor.
