Looking to get my first guitar. What would you say about the epiphone les Paul studio lt
Paired with an orange crush 12?
What other items would I need or what would you recommend? I really like the look of the les Paul

I just started about 2 months ago. Get a mix pack and see what feels best for you. What works for me won’t necessarily work for you or the next guy. I bought like 6 different picks to find what I liked best. You’ll probably want a medium or heavy though for electric. I found that I like the Fender heavy for electric and lights for acoustic. There’s a lot of options, just try them all out, they’re cheap

Good to see another starter here...this thread is really growing!

Oh, get yourself an emery board...you know, the thing your girl uses to shape her nails. You will need it when your fret fingers get the calusses and start to peel off. You'll know when you pull off a string and you pick the string with your fret finger. Sand them down with the emery board...or a file if you're in the garage

Fortunately this is prolly the cheapest advice you get here...YMMV

    Welcome to TW guitars

Hmm.. guitar must be acclimating. Action on the A string is now too low, the others close as well. Everything was hitting fine when it first rolled in. Ibanez tend to have low action anyway, so it wouldn't take much.

Learned a bit of Paranoid today. That opening riff is pretty easy but also really tricky. I need to train my fingers some more.

Figured give it a shot. Confusing for me at first, getting the hang of it. Boy I really suck! Thought I would remember some of the stuff I learned, but that was years ago, and it's gone. Hoping prior learnings allow me to advance a little quicker. C'mon guitar gods, throw a guy a bone!

If you’re thinking an Epi Les Paul, try a few before you buy. I learned this the hard way. A lot of the Epi LPs have the slim taper neck. It is a very thin, flatter neck profile, which a lot of folks love. I bought one for my first guitar, and found that the thin neck profile gave me hand cramps. I now have an LP with a 50s type neck profile, which is a bit fuller, supporting my hand better. If you can, try a slim taper “D” shape, and the rounder “C” shape of a 50s neck. It can make all the difference in playability.
    But yeah! Les Pauls ROCK!

Took the cover off the Yamaha. May be time to redo all this junk.

if you want to go with a epi, go with the Modern. It’s worth a few extra bucks. Locking tuners, coil splits, out of phase, weight relief, and a contour heel joint all come on it. Then toss a roller bridge on it to make it better.

Should of never sold this one.
    Paid $325 free shipping.
Absolutely, for the money, one of the best guitars in that price range.

Gold top, trad pro with burstbuckers and coil splits.
This guitar played so well that I never even took it in for a setup.

Way in the back with my Epi Prophecy plus.
It was probably the last guitar I bought at the pinnacle of my collection.
