Done this to 2 different Tacoma's at this point. Major improvement. Initially made use of the ram mount, but moved that to the A pillar, so now its full visibility full time.

Lot of little things yesterday - new TW cupholders, finished the A-pillar RAM mount mod and got a TRD tow hook to install.

Tinting windows eventually, I'll actually take a picture of that.

Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
This thread is for 2nd gen mods, not your personal opinions on the current political or anti-political landscape.

    Thanks

I got the notice that Diode dynamics is using my truck as their display truck for the new 05-11 mount on their social media platforms and advertising.

    Pretty cool feeling.

I reinstalled my Mobtown sliders after removing them to remove the rust that was forming. Nothing bad, but it was starting to form small rust bubbles, particularly in hard to reach areas.

At first I had planned to Line-X them, which seemed like a good idea at the time. This was the reason why I stripped it all down to metal. After reading up on that idea and hearing about the uncertainties from the Line-X shop I decided to just prime and paint it again myself. I think that was the better move.

It took me two and a half weeks of stripping, sanding, and painting on my free time to finish this. I'm glad it's over and I'm glad to have it back on.

Doing this reminded me of how heavy duty these are. At 70 lbs each, I thought I'd see an MPG improvement while it was off. I didn't notice any drop.

The only thing remaining it to apply my non-skid tape to the top. Then it'll be back to scraping passenger knees and whatnot.

Took my truck to a shop down the street and had them wrap the hood with a matte charcoal vinyl. I was getting blinded driving to work AND coming home so this should fix that.

Installed Elka 2.5's w/700lbs springs. Preloaded for 1" rake.

They feel way more plush than the Icons I had. The Icons were rebuilt last year.

Have yet to bring them onto washboard but excited to see

For those of you with sliders - is it a PITA to get in and out of the cab with them on?

No. You just step on them every time so they don’t get your nice pants dirty. It’s a non issue. Step on to get in and out.

    Same crap everyone else got
Mine stick out a little further than most and more than my old set on my older 4runner so they are a little more inconvenient if I'm wanting to avoid sliding my pant leg on them. My are one off from a shop. I'm sure most on here with sliders from the bigger shops don't stick out as much so it's probably better for them. I still wouldn't call it anything close to a pain in the ass. If I didn't wear dress clothes for work everyday I wouldn't care at all.

edit: My truck isn't tall enough to have to use it as a step, My old 4runner door seal was at my waist, so those sliders i used as a step. I have a 1yo and when he gets bigger, I'm sure i'll be happy I have the step for him though.

In a way I find it easier to get out with them since I use them as a step. You get used to having it and sticking up further than a side step.
