Anyone know if a new tune map is needed when these are open?

I hope we get map switching then. I gave up trying to keep up with the tune thread.

 

I don't have any data, but I don't think that's gonna happen.

 

I paid my truck off and the extended deployment plus girl friend leaving me has left me with extra monies that I should save but I'd rather spend foolishly lol.

 

The garrets we are using are not available on any stock raptor/f150. The Newest raptors use garrets, but not these.

 

Damn it. I was content just getting the direct injectors for the powermax kit but with more time to think about it I’ve convinced myself to get the port and pump...

The ethanol/methanol requirement for boost higher than 15 psi is a no go for me, DI only. Surely it will be plenty from the way Mat talks about it!

Are these the same turbos that come from the 3.5 Ecoboost?

 

They are not. They are garret versions. They do not come "stock" on any ford. They are replacements designed/built by garret.
Garret made them because the stock Borgs on F150s blow up so often and are cheap POS's

 

Right I meant are the Garret's the one that come from an F150 (read: OEM Style) not that they are the stock ones that come on the F150. So since that is the case, could someone get your kit minus the turbos and use BW with upgraded wheels from people like CRP? Just curious because it sounds like this kit has a lot of good turbo options. Including the powermax.

 

I don't plan to offer a bunch of mix and match kit options. It will get confusing.
The wastegates on the borgs are also different than the garrets so that part won't work.

 

Got it. Makes sense. Just seeing how diverse the kit will be and what options guys have to push the boundaries just a little farther than what you have already done. I'd be curious to see if other upgrade parts for the turbos would even work. Like using turbosmart wastegates as an upgrade. I know someone is eventually going to build the 3.5 and make a track monster so speculating is a fun past time.

 

I think I counted about $10,000 for the kit. Is that about right?

 

We have not even pushed the Powermax's to the limit yet, and haven't even made a E85 tune.
Also we selected wastegates based on what will fit in the tight space.

The more diverse we make, the harder it will be to support.
