I noticed the shock boots (is there a more correct term for this?) separated at the top on both sides of my TRD Pro (2017 with ~35k miles). I have been unsure on what to believe in terms of how big of a deal that is. I have heard as long as its not trapping water/dirt it's fine and lots of aftermarket options don't even have covers.

I am eager to hear opinions on what I should do with it now and when the time comes to move on. Do I have decent options aside from the obvious 1) aftermarket lift e.g. Icon/OME/etc...or 2) pay gobs of money for factory parts? I haven't seen anyone just throw in replacements of any kind cause the trucks are still new enough that you don't need factory replacement stuff, you want upgrades. I imagine I can source stuff from Fox aftermarket that is as good or better?

Perhaps you could ziptie them back up to the top? I am not sure, but based on a quick search I dont really see much info out there. I might just start a new thread with some pictures.

the Firestone Airbags with Daystar cradles might help. That way you can fine tune for the load and not lose any down travel.

Man, that explanation was a nice read, super simple to understand. I have a regular trd off road 4x4, running all stock, and had thought of the fox suspension that the pro comes with, but I think I will go for a level 2 or 3. I run similar camping gear to what you mentioned, and same thing I noticed that the drive sucks. I did switch to the 17 tires, so that made a small difference, but improvement none the less. If you are ever back in SD, let's hit a trail!

Thought that rock formation (near the entry I believe) and that water feature looked familiar. Took my 3rd Gen 4Runner through there last year - was a blast!
