I think if you continue having that problem you can use a penny in there as a sacrificial anode. The penny will corrode rather than the terminals.

I just replaced a dead battery on my wife's '17 Civic we bought new.
Battery on my '13 Sport lasted 4 years before visiting my folks in Ohio in the winter killed it.
Not enough time on the '20 yet to make a judgement.

Been getting about 4 years use on various vehicles over the past ten years, seems pretty average.

Maybe, only noticed it on the '17 T4R and my '18 Taco.

with all the drains on these batteries, & charging systems, they do not adequately recharge the battery to full, just daily driving. you NEED to put the battery on a battery tender every couple of months to FULLY CHARGE the battery, to get the maximum usable time out of them. Ski

I feel like Toyota cheated me. I have a 12/15 built Tacoma that shifts fine, I can change the oil filter with zero issue and now I find out the original battery in this piece of shit should be dead by now. You can bet your ass when the pile of dung quits in another 20 years, I won't make this mistake again!

I’m with the other Florida guys, this hot sticky weather down here kills batteries. From the lawn mower, to the 4 wheeler and motorcycle, I’m always replacing batteries. Shit, there’s 2 big ass batteries in my truck.

Sorry, I've been in Mississippi/Louisiana most of my life.... It's plenty hot and sticky here. I've had batteries last way longer.

Did you measure your truck's parasitic draw? How many milliamps?

Yeah I’m in Georgia. So a little southern heat isn’t it .. maybe we have batteries sourced from a different distributor. I even run my winch from time to time . I wish mine would die .

It has been proven that heat is worse than cold for batteries. Also, now days synthetic oil makes a huge difference in helping winter starting so the batt doesn't struggle like it did with petroleum oil.
Just good practice to maintain the water/acid level in your battery. Use distilled water only (of course).
--- But I have had my Taco battery leak when I leaned too far to the side while off-roading. Prolly due to high water level. It ate holes in the nylon bag I had there to hold my OBA coiled hose.
I use a water dispersent metal protector on my terminals in all my vehicles and have not seen a corroded battery in 30+ years. (do NOT use WD-40).
'93 Civic has had two batteries which lasted 10 years each. On #3 now. But it's not a heavy ECU type car either. The exact same size batt is in both the '93 Civic and the '16 CR-V and the CR-V batt failed just last week. (4 yrs old. Water level was maintained through out. There was not any corrosion. No elec mods done (except for a satellite radio install).
