Roof Rack Removal

Anyone have directions on the roof rack removal w/ pics?

I'm a visual person. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

 

I believe there are some install instructions somewhere. Obviously removal is the opposite of install.

I installed an oem one a week ago. You'll need a t25 torx bit for the front 2 bolts and a t30 for the 4 (maybe 6 I can't remember) that are above rear doors (in a dc) that anchor it to the roof ditch. One trick is to remember lefty loosey, righty righty. There is a plastic clip at the front of each rail that holds it to the mounting bracket, just yank it straight up after removing the rear bolts, this will expose the front bolts that hold the brackets in place. These have 4 bolts to remove with the t30 bit. Enjoy. Don't forget to drink a beer.

lol thanks for this info. If someone doesn't know this, they shouldn't be attempting this project or any project in life for that matter...unless of course you are dealing with reverse threaded nuts & bolts.

 

Is there anything you need when the truck comes from the factory with the roof rack and you remove it??

There is a rubber strip that runs the length of the cab on each side. It is a trim piece that fills the roof channels. It is removed in the process of installing the OEM Roof Rack. (I threw mine away when I installed my rack, DOH... I wish I had kept the trim and thrown away the rack. It crumbled on the first trip carrying less than 100lbs.)

 

Yea. I bought the trail teams edition and I really hate the roof racks. The one option I really didn't want.
