I took a trip up to Walker Valley in late December just to look around and was confused by the closed gates. Do they open them up in the summer, or do navigate around them?

navigate around them. they are "gate keepers" to make sure your vehicle can actually do the trail. Though sometimes the gate keepers are harder then most of the trails

I know at other orv places like Evans Creek, they make the trail entrances narrow to keep the guys with buggies on full size/width axles and 44" boggers/pitbulls out. They tend to have a big power plant to turn that bigger running gear and in the process can make a easy to moderate difficulty trail impassable to anyone that doesn't have a built rig.

procharger and the Tacoma kit. Supposed to be able to get around 45% more HP out of it. Supposed to work with most after market winches and bumpers too

The 390hp is the 4runner as they have the dual VVT-i 1GR-FE (stock is 270 for them) vs our regular VVT-i 1GR.

Plus Im doubting the 390 is an exact thing as its probably based of the crank HP and they are just comparing wheel HP %. People like numbers so taking the 270hp it is listed as and comparing it to the wheel HP wouldnt be as impressive as doing the numbers to "convert" to crank HP.

They have one tacoma review with Dyno...im sure it was the test truck. Pre RWHP was 225. After was 311 RWHP.

Im sure once the tuners get hands on a unit they can get more out of it.

The one thing Im not a fan of it they use a fuel pump booster. Makes install a bit simplier as you dont have to swap fuel pumps but...I'd rather just drop the tank and put in a bigger pump

I wonder if moisture is an issue with the Procharger intercooler. I read through the manual and it doesn't address what happens to the water that condenses out during the intercooling process, nor do they mention it in any of their website info.

I'm actually kinda surprised at that stock NA nunber. Only ~10hp below advertised.

You mean in the sense water will form inside the charge pipes and bring moisture through the intake?

Yeah i was a bit surprised by that. They dont list any other mods for drive train outside of 31.5" tires. But always hard to know. Be nice once either some tacoma guys or 4runner guys get them and can get some dyno numbers. Be interesting to see it along with some headers and y pipe.

Yeah. I have no experience with intercooling on small systems like this. The engine of the ship that I work on is 25,000hp. We've got two turbos running about 3 bar of boost. Compressed air coming out of the turbo and into the intercooler is running about 160*C. The intercooler brings it down to about 30*C. In the process the air temp typically drops below the dew point for the pressure that we're running at and we end up with moisture. The intercoolers have a set of plates that force the air to make 90* changes in direction. Water hits the plates and runs downwards where it is collected in drains and dumps into a storage tank. We've had issues with the drains, which led to water carrying over in the intake. In our case, it caused scuffing in the liners which lead to broken piston rings and excessive wear as it washed the lubricant off. FWIW, in the right circumstance I've seen the engine make 20 tons of water a day out of the drains.

Based off that experience, I'd be leery of putting an intercooler system on a vehicle without a better understanding of how they manage the moisture that will inevitably be created.

You’ll get more water in the system via a snorkel then the pro charger System.

You’re talking about insanely large volume of heated air that’s being drastically cooled down by what I assume is a water to air intercooler

Not an issue in the automotive side of things. Much smaller volumes of air being used. Any moisture that is generated is just fine to go into the intake.

These systems of turbo charger/procharger/supercharger to intercooler to intake are incredibly common in the boosted automotive world. Pretty much every diesel truck uses it plus most cars.

Shit, @White lightning boosted ADDS moisture in the form of methanol to his supercharger setup. Gotta keep that fuel cool.
