Took my truck to a shop down the street and had them wrap the hood with a matte charcoal vinyl. I was getting blinded driving to work AND coming home so this should fix that.

Installed Elka 2.5's w/700lbs springs. Preloaded for 1" rake.

They feel way more plush than the Icons I had. The Icons were rebuilt last year.

Have yet to bring them onto washboard but excited to see

For those of you with sliders - is it a PITA to get in and out of the cab with them on?

No. You just step on them every time so they don’t get your nice pants dirty. It’s a non issue. Step on to get in and out.

    Same crap everyone else got
Mine stick out a little further than most and more than my old set on my older 4runner so they are a little more inconvenient if I'm wanting to avoid sliding my pant leg on them. My are one off from a shop. I'm sure most on here with sliders from the bigger shops don't stick out as much so it's probably better for them. I still wouldn't call it anything close to a pain in the ass. If I didn't wear dress clothes for work everyday I wouldn't care at all.

edit: My truck isn't tall enough to have to use it as a step, My old 4runner door seal was at my waist, so those sliders i used as a step. I have a 1yo and when he gets bigger, I'm sure i'll be happy I have the step for him though.

In a way I find it easier to get out with them since I use them as a step. You get used to having it and sticking up further than a side step.

I've got relentless sliders which kick out super far and are lower than alot of these tucked up in. Mine are almost like having a running board and i love it!

Not trying to sound like an ass but it doesn't look like the shop fully welded the doublers to the frame on your sliders...If thats the case i would take it somewhere else and have them finish welding them on... But it could also just be the angle of the picture...

    Nice!
I think I am going to bite the bullet on the 2.0s.
I don't think I need the 2.5s because of the way I drive the truck.
Where did you get the Elka's? Since they are all built to order, it's a 4-6 week leadtime for me :annoyed:

Got started on my half door build today. Was able to retain full functionality of both interior and exterior handles. Will plate the top tomorrow.

Edit: and I’m going to retain the speaker and tweeter and wiring harness too

Absolutely. This is more common on older Toyota crawlers but haven’t seen anyone do this on a second gen yet. Got the pair of doors from a friend for a great deal because I’ve wanted to do this for awhile. By the end of it it’ll be all body finished and painted with the same bed liner as the rest of the truck.

So far so good. It's the 4/64 gb version. It was the best option they had to offer. I'm all android so I can't say if wireless carplay works. You do have to use zlink for Android auto. It's not a pioneer but I can play YouTube and have Google maps going at the same time.

I think what you are seeing is a shadow on the side . But yes they are welded on 3 sides but not the bottom for some reason.
