Maybe we could get a group run up to goat mountain this summer? Sounds like we got a pro in this group. @ST77

I'm down to go anywhere within a reasonable distance of Portland the group wants to go. Would like to start getting the group together every couple of weeks of so if we can work that out.

Pretty sure he was saying you need bar oil even if you have an electric chainsaw. So you might as well carry gas and 2 stroke oil if you're gonna have to carry bar oil.

...That weekend should work for me. I have to be at work Mondays at 2:30 am, so hopefully we can start our Sunday run earlier than 11-12 noon. I don't function as well on a few hours of sleep as I used to!

They're tight trails and damage is highly likely if not fully armored, not good for big groups as most spots dead end with little room for turn around. I wouldn't recommend for anyone that doesn't have at the minimum 33's, full skids and sliders and doesn't care about their paint.

Hello, is the meet on the 14th still going down? I've never really been off roading so I have no idea what I'm doing, but I have watched a lot of informative videos.

No, sorry if that was confusing. The Milwaukee electric chain saw still requires bar oil. I would never use bar oil for a hand saw.
I'm saying you still need to carry bar oil for an electric saw, so to me it's not a big deal to carry a canister of mix gas with it and use a regular gas saw. I had a small MSR fuel can that I carried my mix gas in.

So far that's the plan... You'll just need an OHV permit

Hi, offroad newbie here. Did a few sections of Ginsberg Point in Trask OHV solo before deciding to abort. Started from the south end. Trail seemed tight but doable stock until a steep climb with rocks midway up gave me pause. Another time :)

Nice! I haven't gotten out to that one yet, but I've been sort of close-by. Is that the section you aborted?

The green highlight shows the entire trail, I think I pulled the gpx from googling "Ginsberg point gpx". I did the southern 1/3 or so.

I meant the picture on the trail. Did you go up that section or turned around?
I'm down to explore just about anywhere if I have the time. The farther away, the tougher it gets.

It's the Hoodoo upper parking lot after the Cornona closures. We went out for a family day on xc skis.

Different day (we went out there almost every weekend) but this is the opposite view from where we parked.

Not a great idea during the ski season, obv. But when the resort side is closed...
