i have been on other projects but whats everyones feedback of the custom Hal9K v4.0 update? I still have spotty carplay, and some other glitches. I have an updated OS with dual screen and all that but needs more to be desired.

@skrankk wha launcher did you go with? I have used a few but keep reverting back to the base one as a lot of the launchers are just as buggy if not worse or you cant access some things easy.

 

I went with Hal9k on my PX6 and paid the $10 for OTA updates and updated to 4.0.2. Definitely faster and lots of issues resolved.

 

$10 for updates? whats the link to check it out. I assume its $10 to the developer.

You have two choices for

First Method #1 (Easiest) - You can install v4.0.0 Hal9k via USB/SD first then you pay the $10 for OTA updates. Once you install the v4.0.0, you have to send Hal9 your unit serial number. Go to this link and follow the instructions: http://hal9k.ru/?page_id=207. Please note, the web page links are not prominent so make sure to read. @svermilyea posted the video showing how to do most of this and turn on screen capturing to send that to Hal9k.

The Second Method #2 (Moderately Harder) - You have to get the Mod Installer Pro APK from Hal9k. You pay the $10, and he will send you a link to an APK file that you install on the headunit. Here are the instructions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0qsmwnaQA8

I did the first method and was up and running in 5-minutes on a PX6 system. Download it from here. Add it to a USB stick, Run the update.zip file and done. Then get your serial and send it to Hal9 with your PayPal payment and he will send you a code to enter into the Mod/Hal9 app on your HU. He is usually quick and gets back to you in a few hours.

BIG NOTE: You need to verify your MCU version and I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND you do a OEM Factory update FIRST! This will update the MCU/MTCE version to 3.90+ which is a requirement for Hal9 or any of the ROM's. Go grab the PX6 HA2_rk3399_9.0_ota(20200423)升级包.zip file *OR* your HU Factory ROM from here - https://yadi.sk/d/umCvHqCDzHccr.

Thanks helpful, I just was not too familiar with this update. Only have used the OE updates from Dasaita. I have updated my HU before so familiar with how to do it. but nothing wrong with having walkthroughs on these threads, thats why most of us are here.

 

Have any quicker spots to get the update HA2_rk3399_9.0_ota(20200423)升级包.zip the first link you posted doesnt have that version. stops at 322.

Much appreciated. Anyone have issues updating to MCU 3.45? I have 3.4 but figured upgrade while I am at it but it fails to mount and goes into constant trying. I can get out of it by pulling the USB and restarting.

 

Are you PX6 or PX5? That first link lists all the latest files and with the latest PX6 update, got me at 3.40. Is there a PX6 3.45 MCU?

 

I am on 3.4 now. I must have read it wrong if there is no 3.45. Seems to be fine on 3.4. The box link saved me a few hours for sure. Updated the newest OE update and flashed the Hal9 update. Now the fun of resetting up/dl all my apps and settings. I hope its more stable then the last one. I had a test version that looks similar to this one already.

Odd my USB adapter to factory USB to radio was not working. I had to pull my radio and plug directly into the USB. That was a bit annoying.

Any other good skins folks like running on top of the Hal9 setup?

 

I know this was asked before but any chance this will pick up bluetooth items that were not being picked up by the HU? I forgot why that would not work. I thought it would be great to access my battery monitor, solar controller and switch pro via the HU but they never connect or the HU cant find them.

 

Go to the Hal9 site and there are two Bluetooth chips that do not work at this time. He gives instructions on how to check to see if you have those specific ones. From what I understand, both chips have issues with all ROMs and they are working on fixing them.

 

Gotcha. This is less about Half9 and more about the HU. The HU itself would not connect before ROM update. I can connect to my phone no problem. I noticed that some BT device won't connect.

 

I would be interested in pulling the BT module and upgrading it *IF* it was possible. Let me know what you find out.

 

If I come up with anything ill let folks know. Whatever is in there now is limited and does not work the same as if it was a true android tablet.

 

What are the differences between the two major ROMS for this hu? Hal9k and Malaysk?
