    Mostly dust and dirt.
Best battery I ever had was in my 87 Mitsubishi pick up. It was made by Panasonic and was half the size of a standard car battery. I replaced it after 7 years.

Do not put it off any longer. It is cheap safety. I got my wife one 2 years ago and it saved her ass once already in downtown tacoma while I was gone.

That's the sad part. I have one for myself that has helped some other folks.

You're right though. Gotta get on it.

Just replaced the battery for the second time in my 06. Seven years each. I keep the connections tight and corrosion free and buy the cheapest battery I can find. The last one was $59 after core.

I bought a new 2014 Taco in December, 2013. I probably got a good 3.5-4 years on it before the factory battery went belly up (about 45K miles). Mine was strictly in Mississippi (similar climate to Florida).

Money was a bit tight at the time it went out, so I had to get the cheap one from Walmart. I traded that one for a 16 Taco Dec. last year, and it already had it's factory battery replaced by previous owner (according to Toyota service records) in November, 2017.

Batteries are like any other human creation, they eventually fail at some point. But the way I figure it, if I get another 2 years out of this current battery, I'd call that a win.

Alright now I don't mean to beat a dead horse, but how many of them were younger teenage girls?

My point exactly. It is like 80 bucks for piece of mind. Last thing you want is for her to have a battery crap out and her trying to call you, or worse she is somewhere far away and just says "I'll just see if I can get a jump" and be in a questionable area.

Hate to say it but if something were to happen you'd be kicking yourself over it.

I'd say you've been blessed. Bought those type batteries for my older tractor i use year round.....one barely made it 90 days and the other less than 2 years before finally biting the bullet and putting a diehard in it. So far after a year no more failed batteries.

Up here in western Canada I don't plug any vehicle in, the batteries last an average 7 years and they see Temps down to -40...good thin synthetic engine oil and you're good to go!

My stock battery went Jan 2017 to March 2020. Was still working but was only holding 12.2 - 12.3V and I had a pretty good amount of corrosion I had to clean off about a year before I replaced it. After I cleaned the corrosion, I sprayed the pos and neg terminals and clamps down with the Noco spray linked below. Corrosion never came back.

Just installed a X2 24F AGM and again coated terminals and clamps. I top it off with a charger every 3-4 weeks (until vF tune packs are available). So far I’m happy with what I got out of the stock and new battery.

Hell, at least you made it a couple years on them.. My original battery lasted a whole 3 months before it failed. It would have cost me more money to have the dealer cover it under warranty between the trip there and loss wages so I decided to replace it with an X2Power group 24Fand never had an issue again.

Batteries have a life span. When you buy them they are warrantied for a specific time. For the most part they will last that long. If they do you’ve gotten what you paid for. Anything beyond that is a plus.

Of course vehicle manufacturers are going to put the cheapest battery possible in a new vehicle. They’re betting it will last one day longer than warrantied.

Buy the best battery you can afford. Maintain it and accept it will eventually fail. It’s been that way and will continue so.
Plan on replacing your battery when it’s warranty period is over. Think of replacing the battery like you do changing oil. You would go 50000 miles on the oil even though you probably could. Fresh oil is cheap insurance.

Had a Panasonic in my 4runner. That thing lasted forever. I haven't seen them available in the US.

Lately as in the past two months.... the corrosion has been an issue.

The truck sitting for a week might be killing the battery if there is enough parasitic loss, but both batteries had corrosion issues.

No teenage girls yet. One was a teenage couple, dood's car. Another was a older guy who just recovered his stolen car. It had bigger problems, so I gave him a ride home. The jump pack cranked it like a mofo though. A fellow camper. His GS left his GPS on. There was one other that I can't remember. Co-worker maybe? I'm always stoked to whip out the jump pack.

I'm not worried about the wife's car. The daughter's Mazda is still new to us and a bit questionable as I am seeing how it goes long term.

In the end, their first call would be to me or our roadside assistance.

I got a couple packs in the cart and just checking reviews.

You could put a master cutoff switch on there if you don't mind losing your MPGs? I believe that a couple start up screens on the head unit are all that is really affect by losing the connection.

It could be charging related too. Get a multimeter or clamp on ammeter and see what kind of draw you have, if anything. Keep and eye out and the top of your battery clean from any acid and gases that may leak out. If this battery has the same problem there’s definitely an underlying issue
