We rented, though if this turns out to be something we do more often I could be persuaded to buy one. Rate for a 3 hour rental was pretty reasonable and their staff is super helpful helping us get loaded up and recovered.

Back to normal temps...upper 60's today and creeping up to 70's as the week progresses.

May need to install the window AC units soon.

Haha...I hadn't noticed the jack. The ol' car still looks pretty good for one pushing 30 years old. The bumper cover is the last thing to put back on. But were waiting on that to make it easier to get it up on the trailer to take it to get a better tune.

I'll throw up some pix when that happens

Drove around for two days with the basket, it’s coming off to stay in the shed till we need it. Lord it adds some wind noise but worth the trade off for storage.

I've had a Yakima Loadwarrior for many many years, and this is the way. Absolutely priceless when you need the roof for storage but a lot to run around with when empty. SO loud and more drag than you'd think. I use the Yakima Bars on the AC, and every other car I've owned since the late 80's, and swap the attachments as necessary.

We must sound like lunatics being worried about gas mileage in a truck but every little bit counts.

That’s why I got the factory roof bars, to fold them up when not in need.

The 2nd Gen: Leveling kit, roll up tonneau cover. 265/75/16’s
Thought that I’d better get on this thread at some point. I “rescued” a ‘15 access cab TRD off-road in December of ‘19. She had a spacer lift in the front and an add a leaf in the rear, TRD fake bead lock wheels and a tonneau cover. Lots of surface rust on the frame for a 5 year old pickup with 25,000 miles that was covered by rubber undercoating. It had a horrible intermittent steering wheel shake at highway speeds. I removed the lift, bought stock wheels, put 10 ply 265/75/16 tires on it that I removed from my lifted 1st gen when I went to a bigger tire, replaced all of the bushings in the front end with energy suspension bushings, removed ALL of the rubberized undercoating (This literally took me 3 weeks), wire wheeled every weld I could get to on the frame without taking the cab off (yes, the bed did come off), repainted the frame with Chassis Saver paint in Satin Black and have been driving it since.

The only mods that I’ve done to it include a ram mount on the a pillarB190BF25-32D6-4019-9467-A6FA21D6ACE9.jpgand a trash can bungee tied between the rear seats54B5348C-2408-4085-8ED9-9D7E6C3CB669.jpgThis is how she sits as of today14679C2C-7F8E-4BC2-9750-0D0C95D29A3D.jpg
My list of future mods, in order (mostly) include:
    Bed mat
Vinyl floor kit with sound mat
OME nitro charger sport shocks and maybe a i old flip kit
Edit: (oooooh almost forgot. SEAT WARMERS!)
    Sliders
Arb recovery point for the front
Bussman relay box with internal switches
Light bar of some sort and ditch lights (read, deer avoidance lights!)
Arb bumper, because I’ve already hit 3 deer with my first gen... thank god for that arb bumper
Aux backup lights for my black hole of a driveway
    Maybe on board air
I have ZERO interest in lifting this pickup

for now, I’m just enjoying having a mostly stock daily driver!

It’s a good color! I’ve had 4 red vehicles. 3 of them have been Toyotas! I had them for sale on TW for almost 6 months. I traveled from Idaho to San Diego to pickup this8233D4AA-C45F-4EFE-8A68-014245D95CEC.jpg
And updated my for sale post saying I was going to be headed down there in the next few days. Had a guy in the San Diego area message me within the hour wanting them. He has 3 FJ80’s and a Tundra. He put them on his Tundra25D37AE4-BBA1-42BE-872F-FE86F52684F8.jpgThey look much better on it than they did on my tacoma63475E05-2043-40DB-8698-BA0815D19B1A.jpg
