Fitting 33s on 3rd gen

Whats interesting is that I went to the dealer and they said they havn't gotten a system update giving them the 2016 info. But it looks like our specs are pretty much the same. So maybe the specs havn't changed. The front end looks to be the same between 2nd and 3rd gen anyways.

 

That's a good question I didn't think to ask. I called and asked about an alignment they said of course, come on in. But I would guess there is minimal change if any.

 

Well I'm going to follow up in a couple weeks and I'll let you know. hopefully neither of us will need another alignment. The tacoma drives fine so I doubt they are out of spec. the thing was all over the place after the lift/before the alignment.

I did my alignment at 2015 spec. It's the same as this 2016 will be. None of the suspension has changed.

 

but if nothing changed, why does the 2016 sit higher then the gen 2? weight?

 

So this project you left the rear shocks and lift stock correct. I'm doing mine today and was thinking of going the full 2inches in the front

Yeah I only raised the front. The rear is all factory. After 5 years it shows though. The rear sags a little bit.

 

Okay yeah you could probably do a AAL and get away with it. Or just do the rear suspension and the 1inch block. I havent found a forum where someone didnt do the rear suspension til came across yours.

 

I’ve thought about it but I think I’m just going to get a real suspension setup front and rear. Having had the bilsteins in the front for this long, I wouldn’t want them in the rear. IMO people over hype them because they want to justify their money. Don’t get my wrong they’re great shocks for the money and a good setup will cost many times more, but do understand that they have digressive valving and it’s going to throw your truck all over the place especially off road. The good thing is that if you like driving aggressively on the road it’s going to feel very tight and responsive but other than that it’s mostly cons in my opinion.

I couldn’t really find a normal side pic but this is how it sits after 5 years. I’m most likely going to go with Kings next year.
