Or a manual. I plan to convert mine to manual sometime in the next year. I already have a collection of parts going. Just need to grab a transmission and ECU.

i think im holding onto mine to use some of the parts for when i go turbo since most of what i'll need will already be there.

I considered doing an auto swap earlier this year, but ultimately decided against it. I'm just gonna enjoy my 5spd and embrace the rattling and vibrations lol. I just love banging through the gears. When you planning on doing that swap? That is gonna be awesome, they should've offered a 5spd double cab from the factory

I supposed the transmission ratios come into play here.

You effectively have an R155. Very strong and reliable transmission. Keep it by all means.

What do you mean by "effectively"? I thought it was a R155

My recollection is a bit foggy, but I heard somewhere that the latest model 2TR came with an even more updated R155. Stronger. Than the '09s. Someone can verify and clarify.

My tired self misrepresented what I am trying to spew out. Not working well though.

Effectively the strongest R155. I suck at this thinking thing right now.

    It's definitely strong.
Plus, the MK3 Supra used an R154 trans- which the gearset can drop right into an R155(F) if you wanna go full-retard.
Or just bolt an R154 right up to the 2TR.

I did speak to Gadget once, but he wasn't sure about using the ECU piggyback to set metrics like shift points. I might try again from technical support.

I believe the 2016+ 6spd AT would be a popular platform to improve on. Supposedly the EPA regulations were a factor in gearing the transmission so low for emissions per equivilant to amount of sales for that vehicle, so that would equate to more of the 2.7L 6spd AT's on the road needing improvement. More trucks = more tunes potentially sold right?

Hmm you dont say.. i wonder if doing this would help with the dead spot in 2nd gear after the 1-2 shift.

Yeah i am not sure how it'd work to control shift points. I was under the impression that the urd tune for the mapecu3 only controls fueling, and ignition timing. I dont remember seeing anything in the wiring diagrams relating to the trans.

Perhaps! I do think the 6spd auto is a better choice vs the 4spd they put in the 2nd gens, but you're right it could definitely be improved upon. Once someone figures out how to tune the new 6spd auto, there will probably be some demand for that
