Yes, it sucks the first month of consistent running. But once you are past that point it feels great to earn those beers!

It’s uncouth to say, but trail running is my first love. Age and too many years abusing the body has pushed me to trail riding more than running.

honestly shin splints is what's always kept me from any distance running. I play ultimate frisbee, so sprinting, but anytime I get to like 3/4-1 mile of running my shins kill me. I've done all the training/stretching/shoes/etc etc recommended and I just never can get them to stay away. another reason I got into biking...never have shin issues...just weather issues lol

I used to hate running, trained for and ran three half marathons and still hated it. But in the last year I’ve started to warm up to it. Still not my preferred sport but I’ll run a couple mornings a week still and more when it’s wet.

Part of it could be just getting used to it but also form. I know my roommate had some bad issues last year to the point he couldn’t run. When I’d run with him it would literally sound like he’s slamming his foot on the ground with each step. It was probably a strength thing since he didn’t run a lot before that.

The timing might work out for me on this one. Long ass road trip from CO, but I've been meaning to come out there. IF I'm healed up by then, I'm going to do my best to make it happen. As of now, I should be pretty close to ready to ride by then. :fingerscrossed:

I actually first started riding out east waaaaay back when I go my first mt bike. That was like 20+ years ago. I remember it being rocky, rooty, and rowdy with lots of ups and downs. Out here in the west it's straight up, then straight down.

I'm for sure being optimistic. That would put me in at a little under 4 weeks since the injury. It's healing well, my hand and arm have about 85% mobility, but nearly no weight bearing strength right now. Timeline's iffy, and I'll play it by ear, but I'm hopeful!

Can't wait man. Been meaning to ride down there with you since you came here. Finger's crossed.

Wish I had my bike finished but I keep putting the money into my truck. I live in Ashe county and have yet to get together with any guys from TW for a wheeling trip. Someday it’ll happen. Enjoy!

I love it! It’s so peaceful. Bought a house last year and just now getting to a place where I’m almost done with it.
