I can pump from the well underneath the wellhouse, or from the pond. Each one has a valve. The well doesn't last very long so for years I've pumped from the pond. I guess I can close off the pond and open the well valve, if the valves still work. I'll give it a try, it would eliminate the intake line from the pond as where the leak is. Maybe.

 

Anyone have a recommendation on a 1911? I was doin some research last night but there’s just so many of them. Not buying right now, but want to have an idea for when the time comes. Not looking to spend more than 800-900

 

Maner has some for sale i believe. Kimber is high end, springfields are good.

 

I don’t know if Maners are CA compliant though

Kimberly is a little under Springfield in quality. They've done a lot of improvement on their quality, but high-end they are not.

For 800-900 you can get the Smith and Wesson E-series, Ruger 1911, Springfield Loaded or Range Officer, or even Rock Island will be fine.

I was eyeing the Springfield Range Officer last night. They look nice

 

They're great. If it's for carry, look for one with non- adjustable sights. I've had adjustable sights break/ lose zero.

 

I don’t have a CCW sadly. That’s another like $1k for the certification classes. If I did carry I’d probably get a G19. But that’s not happening anytime soon so I’ll just keep staring at 1911s lol

 

I recommend a 5", full-size 1911 in .45 as a first. It'll be more reliable out of the box. Bear in mind, a lot of parts require fitting and some companies use proprietary dimensions.

Examples:
Springfield 1911s use 9mm titanium firing pins and Smith and Wesson has proprietary sight cuts (so does Springfield).

Ya I wasn’t getting anything less than a .45 for it I won’t be buying for a while but I like to look at things I can’t buy

 

I have one as well. It is great. Shoot it as straight as my 5" Ruger 1911.
