17" TRD Pro rims and BFG AT TKO2s...

I did search for this...so sorry if this has been answered before. I picked up my matte gray 17' Sema Pros today. I called the tire shop to schedule tires to be mounted. During the conversation he stated that he believes the wheels are not compatible on a 2020 OR due to the hub bore diameter. According to him they are like 1mm different. According to him the bore on the wheel is smaller than the hub on the 2020 OR. Has anyone had the shop mention this before? And if so, what approach was taken when confronted with this?

On a side note, I wonder if this has anything to do with some people having rub vs those who do not.

Havne't had any issues with mine and my tire shop didn't mention anything like that to me.

Also no rubbing issues not even close. I'm running 265 70 17. Not sure what tire size you are doing.

 

I have not had anything mounted up yet. My scheduled appointment is tomorrow. I proposed that we test fit everything during that window and he agreed. As for now, my plan is to go with the same as you 265/70/17.

His comment struck me as strange because I have been reading most of the posts in this thread and have yet to see anyone reference the issue he mentioned. I am guessing there will not be a problem. But I figured I had better ask the community so I can be as well informed as possible.

Looks great! I have the exact same setup and rub on the front flaps on dips/driveways/etc. as well. I opted to just keep rubbing every once in a while since I dont really off road and prefer the look of the flaps and psychologically think they protect my paint haha. But if you don't want to rub, you can just remove the front flaps if you want.

 

Totally agree with keeping the flaps on, especially after looking at the mud flap/ rock chip thread. Anyone that has this setup have any luck getting rid of rubbing with different flaps?

 

Heres an update from my appointment yesterday. The aforementioned issue that was raised prior to my meeting ended up not being an issue at all. When I went to drop off my truck the person I talked to seemed puzzled by what I told him had taken place when I called the day before. He said that they would test fit one wheel and tire before mounting everything up and let me know if there was a problem. As it turned out they just called me and said "Your vehicle is all set. You can come pick it up."

I have not gone out and tested for any rub. I plan to do that over the weekend. But for now I am just loving the new look and ride!

It is an ARE Z-Series. The day I called to order a new one someone traded this one in. I snagged it for a nice discount! It has a sliding and folding window at the front. And the lock is synced to the car locks, so it is nice that it will have some level of security. The only thing I do not like about it is the trim around the window. It seems to be attached with a bit of double sided sticky tape. And mine is shifted a little bit. It will be an easy fix to just reposition it, but it is a nuisance. They do sell trimless windows with them that do not have this issue from what I understand. But overall I am really happy with it.

Any rubbing with the stock Pro Suspension?

 

I have a 2017 TRD off road and just ordered the matte black trd pro rims. Does anyone know if these blag lug nuts will work?

New to this forum and to Toyota trucks in general. I’ve been a Jeep and 3/4-ton diesel guy guy my whole life, and still have both.

I’ve searched around this forum and this thread is the only one I could find pertaining to this issue: it

I recently picked up a 2021 Tacoma TRD Pro and would like to go with the 4Runner 17” wheel in gunmetal gray.

I spoke to Mark at Olathe Toyota parts (as that seems to be about the cheapest place to get these wheels). He said there is an issue with the hubs on the ‘20 and ‘21 Tacomas having a slightly larger hub diameter (not present on earlier 3rd gen. Tacomas) than the hub opening on these wheels and that he’s had at least two guys return these wheels because of this issue. He says that they will go on, but that they are very tight and usually require an impact wrench to get the wheel to fit over the hub.

Has anyone else heard of this issue being a problem with the 4Runner wheels on a ‘20 or ‘21 Tacoma?

If this info is true it would affect all hub centric aftermarket wheels, so I don’t imagine it is. Lots of guys with aftermarket wheels on 20’s and 21’s.

There was some info floating around here that Olathe had a bad set of these wheels that kept going out and getting returned, but I can’t substantiate that.

It seem like this wouldn’t be a problem unique to that TRD 4Runner wheel, but all aftermarket wheels.

I also can’t imagine that Toyota would change the hub diameter by 1 mm of the Tacoma starting with model year 2020.

I asked the sales guy (Mark) at Olathe Toyota Parts Center the same question in regards to aftermarket wheels, but he said that he didn’t know. He otherwise was very knowledgeable on the topic, so it did cause me significant concern, and I chose to wait before ordering them.

My local Toyota dealership parts guy said that he has not heard of this issue, but they also don’t know of anyone specifically ordering these wheels for a Tacoma (as opposed to a 4Runner).

 

I run them on my Taco, and ordered from Olathe, but mine is a 2017. No fittment issues for me at all. However, I’m not an expert on the latest model years.

If you buy just make sure they are not selling you that bunk set again!

I have a 2020 with the 4R pro wheels on them. No issues with fitment at all. I even have the full pro suspension...
