Colton, I agree it isnt a Mercedes with a bed, its just that some of the extra minor touches would be nice. You are also right, not all the stuff I mentioned is necessary to each and every person, but when you see that other vehicles from different makers have those extra touches (i.e. Chevy Colorado has cargo light and lighted sun visors, Nissan Frontier has USB Ipod control option, etc) you wonder what was Toyota thinking? I mean Toyota offers some of that stuff in the Corolla for crying out loud, seems silly.

It is true, the 30K and below price line doesn't buy what it used to. And as I think they could have added a few extra touches, I would still do it over again, because this trucks reliability will speak for itself and will hold its resale like no other in the long term.

It just would have been nice to maybe have the option of not going with the off road/sport TRD and spend the extra upgrades on the stuff I mentioned versus the whole TRD thing. I cannot remember the difference in price versus the non TRD, but If it was because of the shocks and compass sun glass holder thing, and the color coated mirrors, etc. I would have passed and did the leather seats or something else.

I wish it had a locking gas door and tailgate. The space aged bed material gets really slick in the cold too.

Truck needs more sound deadening materials. Truck is too loud for the price we pay for these things. Needs rear disc brakes. It's only 2010 going on '11. What are they thinking putting drum brakes on the rear in todays day and age? Other than that not too many major complaints.

Why do you feel it needs to have disk brakes?

However, having heated leather seats, blue tooth, homelink, and some neat interior lighting options makes up for not having a locking gas cap!!!

The performance you get out of a disk is superior to a drum in my opinion.

Never met anyone who used a cup holder in the door down by the floor, 2 in the back do nothing for me, 1 small one in console is ok for small cups, the 2 most usefull ones in front suck! I need 1 that is deep enough and actually holds a large cup of coffee in the morning without it tipping over. The black divider that is supposed hold the cup is useless.....other than that its a great truck!

I can see your point there. The little adjustable arms on the front holders ARE pretty weak. I use the door ones for spare waters on long trips. I have a BIG road cup that fits in the small console holder (Tall and narrow) Works perfect.

No offense, but I think you kinda miss the point. Everyone is going to buy a truck and then have certain things they don't like about it...it is inevitable. Yeah, if they are bad enough that you bash on the truck as a whole, then you should get another vehicle. But just because I don't like the semi-lame nature of the bed, does not mean I don't love everything else about the truck.

This is a cool place to vent, and may also possibly get some people good advice about how to fix those things they do not like.

I have one more tiny one just because I am always leaving them on. A damn indicator to show the fogs are on whether it be an illuminated switch or an indicator in the dash like the 4Runners. I like the Tacoma a lot but for me there are just a few things if I could put on a wish list of things to be fixed the ones I posted would be it. There is always a bucket list of crap I don't like about a car that I own. I don't think the perfect vehicle for me exists and most of the time you don't realize what you don't like about a vehicle until you live with it for a while. Most of my bitches about the Tacoma are just simple things that should have probably been taken care of by the second or third model year of the 2nd gen.

First off, why would you trust a plastic cleat to hold something as expensive as a dirt bike? Add some more D-Rings that are bolted to the frame. If those break you have bigger problems than a damaged bike.

The first thing my wife did was count all 13 cupholders in my DC. :) I hate the crappy speakers, that's about it. Love my truck so far!

Cheap plastic in the interior that scratches easily!
    Thin paint!
    Plastic bed instead of metal!
Fabric arm rests that get dirty!
Cheap radio! reception and volume is piss poor
The first two are my main complaints!
