Come up to Colorado and I will get you away from the Texas drive through curb seen.

Lots of good 12v fridges out there that people have mentioned; ARB, Dometic, even Whynter models that work real well. You can run any of those off the 110v while driving and then wire a 12v always on to run them when parked. They are all designed for this purpose and have pretty good energy efficiency.

And, yeah, even in Texas, tie the thing down unless you are sticking to pavement (without curbs).

Purely from an electrical perspective running a 110v anything when a 12v option exists is simply stupid as it’s a total waste of energy. You have a limited amount of electric power in a vehicle, and the 12v DC to 110v AC will loose a ton of electric energy as no conversation is 100% efficient. then consider the 110v fridge will actually convert electricity to what ever the internal DC motor needs (say 12 to 24v DC) and that conversation will also looses power. So you’re starting with 12v ending at ~12v and loosing a ton of power in between due to unnecessary conversions.
Just get a 12v fridge and run the required wiring to the truck bed, you’ll end up with way better “run time” even with the most efficient 110v fridge.

Dometic with a goal zero or whatever jack battery to supplement would work.

Thanks! My buddy and I built it and I lived in it for 6 months. Got rid of it when I got the Tacoma (went from it plus a Mazda 3) Been thinking of doing something similar with the Tacoma when I go rock climbing.

Way too hardcore for the likes of us!

(Hint: Most of the time these fridges are strapped to tracks that are bolted down...I'm sure you're still too hardcore though ;) )

I guess that may work then if it’s worth it to folks to bolt it in. I just know that even as tight as I get my spare tied down in the bed it hops a little while out on the fun stuff.

Running a DC fridge on AC is inefficient. Just plug it into a cigarette outlet or add one

We posted up some info on energy consumption over in our CFX3 Mega thread here on TW. In general, with a secondary battery (an AGM or one of our PLB40s) you can run one of our coolers/freezers for multiple days without issue. If you only have a single starter battery in your vehicle our battery protection circuitry will cut off the cooler when voltage drops past a certain point (making sure you can still start your vehicle).

You can use our coolers in vehicle or at home off of AC too...
