So my wife got me the chrome delete kit for my 2020 so I decided to put it on. Well I got all the way through out the dash back together and decided to start the truck up.

On the dash it said it was in 4lo and was flashing. The knob still stated 2WD though.

So I took the dash back apart thinking I might have messed up the little switch on the back of the selector. I checked it out followed along with the MESO video and made sure I was good. Put it back together and started it up and same thing. I tried driving up and down my cul-de-sac and nothing.

many suggestions? It’s telling me to take it to the dealer.

Did you have the battery disconnected when you had everything apart? Are you sure that you got everything reconnected when you pulled the dash?

I'd contact MESO directly and/or tripple check your work. Should do those 2 things before making a post about it. IMO.

I’ll shoot him a message, I just figured someone had went through this before, with an unrelated modification or something along those lines.
no I didn’t disconnect the battery, I guess I could try to reset everything real quick by disconnecting the negative and see if that resolves it.

Did you try turning the knob into 4 wheel drive and then back again?

Pull the 4x4 back apart and make sure everyone seated correctly inside. This is the hardest of the group to take apart, but also the most critical because of the small PCB board that has the brass contacts. Double check that went back in the same way it came out and none of the metal contacts are bent in the stock button.
Disconnecting it without pulling the battery shouldn’t throw any codes/errors. But I do always urge to pull the negative when working on stuff

Hate to say, but rule #1 with this truck, disconnect the battery. I hope you find the solution quickly.

Absolutely genius! Two of the little connections were every so slightly bent down, I raised them up just a tad and boom fixed. Thanks again for your help man!

Yeah. I noticed on the first pass that my banana hands had tweaked those little guys and didn’t want to break them off or make things worse so I put the chip back on hoping it pressed down into them enough. I got the AJT black 4x4 ring and watched that install he did, noticed it was dark in his video and cab lights seemed to be so I thought it was an install that would okay to do with out disconnecting the Neg. He’s probably got some sort of task light in the back though. Lessons learned. Really wanted a full black out kit from Meso but sadly they’re not for the MT so I’ve been kinda piecing mine together.

Just watch the install video and make sure to follow it to the T. My 4x4 went back fine but it took about 3 tries to realign my ac controls because i tried to dissemble it without watching and that was a pain

Why would you need to disconnect the battery? You're pulling the switch out and disconnecting it. Therefor it no longer has juice from the battery. Its redundant.

And here is a classic example of why you should make threads about this type of stuff. OP was never being negative, just seeing if others had experienced it. His experience helped another member solve the problem on his own. Great contribution to the TW community OP.

It’s because damn near every circuit on these trucks talk to one computer or another so if you bugger up a connection or God forbid ground out the wrong circuit it could fry one of the ECU’s and cost $$$!
