That’s awesome Chad! Last one I did was a 1960 40hp Johnson Super Seahorse. Walked in to get a part and asked the guy for a water choke. He just looked at me funny and said I’ve been working on boat motors for 30 years and never heard of that. His dad walks in the back and he yells “ Hey, you ever heard of a water choke?” Dude hollers back “ Yup, 1960 40 hp Johnson Super Seahorse, only motor ever made that had it and no we don’t have one.” Lol

We just had a wet couple weeks. Hot and high heat for the foreseeable.

I'd love to restore one of the 1950's outboards. I like working on those old motors. I've got quite a few parts I need to sell for that motor. I got rid of it quite a few years ago and still have the parts for it. I also have a boatload of shit for the 1956 Chris Craft I used to own. Got the wooden stern mast light and the search light that went on it. Still have the metal logo's off the sides of it too. In fact I think the bow light is still around here somewhere.

 

Well everyone. I paid her off today... now it’s time to really mod the shit out of her!

 

That’s just too cool, Murph. Up here we just enjoy the novelty of not being able to walk on the Lakes for just a few months but there are some really nice classic units ‘round the Lake of the Woods area.

I'd say that's the second best mod, first is a daily driver. It's nice to be able to leave the truck in pieces if need be and still get to work

 

So I gather the Boss brought the Pro to work today then.

 

I know that bilge paint they used in the 50's is like fucking cement. I put a belt sander on it with a 80 grit belt. It just cleaned the paint.

Those things are just too much work in the south. You're fighting rot constantly with the heat and humidity down here.I also was building one of the Glen-L mini tug boats one time. Got the hull put together and fiberglassed (Had to build it on the driveway). Of course until it is painted you have to protect it from the UV rays with epoxy on it. Well, my tarp got blown up on one side and the sun got on it for a week or so before I saw it. Started peeling and cracking. Kid came by while I was outside and asked me what I was doing with it. He probably heard me cussing about it out there. I asked him why? He said they were looking for something to use as a skateboard ramp. Told him if he hauled it off right now he could have it. Saw them later that day down the street riding up the hull. lmao

I'd like to build another one someday but it will be inside a shop if I do it again to protect it. That flats boat has caught my interest for quite a while.

 

I'm still working from home, office is closed until about July but who knows. I actually haven't seen the Pro in a good bit
