Are you kidding me?! That is one of the best color combos Trek makes. Smash on some purple ano parts and you got a killer looking (and riding) bike.

Built a BigWig a little while ago. Built it up 27.5+ and it was blast. Great bike, but my old and battered knees can't ride a hardtail anymore.

This is why my buddy is getting rid of his Bronson. He ended up ordering a Pivot Firebird 29, should be here in about a week. They spec it now with a Fox 38 and I can't wait to see that fork in person!

That he "shouldn't feel bad, because I got all my cardio from plowing dudes" said with the most "F you" snark I could muster while wearing a taco cat shirt and ridiculous sunglasses.

I've heard it's more like a 40 than a 36. My buddy is built like a linebacker (6'3" and 230lbs) and rides like he's on his moto bike, so he's a perfect candidate for that fork and the firebird.

good to hear. I’m planning on ordering a big al frame (Aluminium version of the big wig) when they start to ship in August. I enjoy riding a hardtail right now, so I guess I’ll do it while I can.

Any issue sourcing parts for it? I guess the deraiuler hanger is the only thing I can see being an issue unless the new universal ones fit.

Saw a Firebird at my LBS about two weeks ago. Holy shit was that fork beefy. I went back last week to actually look at it since I was just in to order a few parts the week before and it has already sold. It's a bit too much bike for me but I could definitely have some fun on it if I could find it as a rental or take it to a bike park. Most of my local riding just doesn't call for that big of a bike and I don't get to places that I could use that bike, enough.

I don't really think the riding around here calls for that big of a bike either. It really only works because he's such a big dude with an all-out kinda riding style. He demoed the Firebird, SC Megatower, and Pivot Switchblade and let me try all of em. I found the Firebird to be way more maneuverable and easy to pedal than the megatower (kinda reinforced that I don't get what people like about SC's VPP system). The Switchblade is a totally different kind of bike and really wasn't enough bike for him, though I think it'd be perfect for most people.
