Hey everyone, I am fairly new around here so forgive me if I have made any fatal errors creating this thread but I thought I would share my suffering in an attempt to maybe make some other people feel better about their rust issues. If anyone else is suffering or has suffered as a result of road salt please feel free to share your pain or recovery story, or you can just mock my rusty heap of shit thats fine too. These are just a couple of many pictures of my lovely 96 to start things off.

Just a little taste of what Alberta roads do in 24 years. Once again I have no idea what im doing here so let me know if I have done anything unforgivable while creating this thread.

Well I had been working on it for months before I realized how bad the floor was so I'm emotionally attached now. I already overhauled the back half of the frame so I was thinking of maybe cutting a chunk of metal out of the bed to pach the floor unless anyone knows of any better options.

    Holy hell.

    I didn’t realize Alberta = Atlantis.

That thing looks like it’s been living under the sea its whole life.

One of my trucks is a Midwest lifer. Doing rear frame now. Floor also had a hole just under drivers left foot area. I used some light gauge sheet metal I got from Lowes, or Home Depot.

I have two, but the first 95 I bought had rust on pretty much every body panel and the frame/underbody as well. Been a long road...but, I couldn't let such a sweet running truck die.

    Frame, ongoing:

    20200601_174534.jpg

Front/Rear bumpers, both front fenders: wasted, replaced from Rock Auto. Bed: fiberglass over thin sheetmetal. Bedsides and rocker panels again replaced w/Rock Auto parts. That section of access cab rocker panel cannot be bought. Had to make those with Home Depot metal. Section under the door area can be bought from Toyota.

Rehab day one over two years ago (the other side was about the same):

Reminds me of my old '83 Chevy S-10 I had in high school back in Ohio. My dad and I found a used bed to replace the one that had rusted off. Had it not been for the tailgate net, the whole thing would have fallen apart. And I'm pretty sure the rest of the truck was half Bondo.

Hey there, welcome to Tacoma World but.... holy cow! that's a lot of rust!
Was that truck parked in a pond during its whole life??

Sadly, this is what winter salt and chemicals do to cars

Despite all this rust, how is the truck running?

mine too! Though I'm in the east of the country.. which is also a salt loving area
