Glad, we aren’t the only ones.

Interesting, I’ve never even thought about the minerals.

Ours get chilled water from the refrigerator that’s filtered. This is the wife’s doing not mine. If I’m filling their water bowls (and wife’s not watching) I just use tap water. All I know is when my wife says “kitties... fresh water” they come running.
Our water quality here is pretty good actually.
I don’t think the household water filters remove much in the way of minerals- just chlorine, some tastes/odors and particulates.

Dang some of y'all make me feel bad that I just fill our cat's water fountain up with tap water lol.

It does come with one of those charcoal filter things inside their fountain but...let's just say that doesn't get replaced as often as it should.

I do take apart the fountain and clean it every 2 weeks, otherwise it gets nasty.

We have really hard water, so for anyone that does... I run pure white vinegar in ours for about 10 min (in the sink), then I leave it on and run tap water through it for another 5 or so to get out all the vinegar. THEN I clean it with some soap and water and replace the filters. I do that every couple months. In three years I’ve only had to get a new pump once. You can look up the numbers on the pump and get them from chewy or Amazon btw.

yeah the pump gave out on our last unit and I didn't know they were replaceable at the time, but we needed a whole new fountain anyway. Had that one for at least 6 years. Luckily our tap water is very drinkable, I've always just had it straight from tap. I wouldn't give it to our cats if I wouldn't drink it myself, but I have lived places where the tap water definitely needed to be filtered.

We’re on a well but also I do tap for Otis and me. I do have one of those little filter spouts with a double filter that even gets rid of bacteria and pharmaceuticals though. The bottled water just goes in his two little condiment dishes he insists on having.

    Spoiled fuck.

Hell, half the time our cats drink out of the toilet bowl. :notsure:

We're on a well, though, so really it's the same water as what's in their bowl.
