    Serious WTF...

One of KFC's few redeeming values vs other chicken joints like Bojangles or Churches.

KFC is officially replacing its beloved potato wedges with traditional fries

KFC patrons aren't loving "The Colonel" right now. The fried chicken chain recently confirmed with Business Insider that it's officially removing the iconic potato wedges from the menu and instead offering "Secret Recipe Fries"—still potatoes, but definitely not the same vibe.

Rumors of the potato wedges' demise started last year, when KFC began testing the new, slimmer fried potatoes at select locations. According to Food Beast, the "Secret Recipe Fries" were allegedly seasoned with the same "11 herbs and spices" as their famous chicken. And apparently, some folks really liked it.

We guess KFC finally decided to put a ring on its new side piece because a rep recently told Business Insider the company's plans to gradually phase out wedges and replace them with fries. The rep also said, "While we know there are wedge-lovers out there who may be disappointed, consumer response to our Secret Recipe Fries during the test and the rollout has been overwhelmingly positive."

Wedge fans were upset and took to Twitter, of course.

    and in other news...

Notice they're starting in Florida. Coincidence? I think not...

Cracker Barrel is adding beer, wine and mimosas to its menu

There might be something new on the menu next time you meet the family at Cracker Barrel -- beer, wine and -- oh, la la! -- mimosas.

The country cookin' chain has slowly been reopening locations in various states after limiting services to pickup and delivery during the COVID-19 pandemic, but said sales aren't what they used to be, reports National Restaurant News.

They're hoping to change that by offering customers a beer or wine to go along with their chicken pot pie and two kinds of mimosas, strawberry and orange, to pair with pancakes and other breakfast dishes.

Honestly, it's pretty genius. Not only will it improve restaurant sales, but imagine all the retro, rustic and (if we're being honest) totally unnecessary goods folks will be buying in the gift shop once they've had a glass of wine or three.

Right now, alcohol is only available at 20 restaurants in Florida, but Cracker Barrel is expected to roll out their beer and wine program to all locations throughout the year.

Several masked thieves snuck into a vehicle storage facility in the Bronx early Thursday morning and drove off with 22 Toyotas.

In surveillance footage captured from the brazen heist, at least two of the burglars can be seen wearing hoodies and entering the storage unit where dozens of cars are parked.

    https://twitter.com/NYPDTips/status...ws.com/us/toyotas-stolen-bronx-warehouse-raid

The incident occurred at 12:45 a.m. at a warehouse in a desolate part of Kingsbridge Heights, and police are hoping to locate all four of the bandits.

Among the looted vehicles were several sedans and SUVs, officials The Daily News.

Police are offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to their arrests.

I get very few any more after calling them years ago, and arguing with them about why they need my info if i was pre-approved. I also wrote kind messages on the application and returned them in the pre-paid envelopes.

I locked all 3 of my credit reports after the third Experian hack. Plus the 2 beaches at OPM. They stole my military history and my federal employee personnel record. Don’t know what they can do with it, but they have it (as of 2014).

Requested new account numbers at the credit union and double-check all accounts monthly. OPM gave me generic LifeLock (which is useless).

Been like that for 6 years now.

I haven’t gotten a single credit offer I didn’t request...but the hoops I had to jump through to switch primary credit cards was nuts.

Also, Chase Sapphire is outstanding if fraud is a big risk. Their customer support is the best I’ve experienced. Caught 2 attempts in the act, cancelled the cards immediately, and had new ones overnighted. WORTH IT.

I've had my 3 blocked for years as well. Used to be more of a pain for some of them as you had to have the specific PIN to do a temp unfreeze if you actually needed it. Now 2 of them are a username/password. More susceptible to cracking I suppose, but easier when you need it. That forever balancing act of usability vs security.

Yeah - though I just copied that PIN into my 1Password app. I use that to keep up with the myriad different passwords since I generally never use the same password on more than one site. That's the classic hack model - breach some low security place then try the username/password combos on the high value places and find the folks who used the same credentials in multiple places. Since 1password integrates to phone apps / browser as well as computer browser it makes life pretty easy. Database is 256 bit AES encrypted and syncs between phone / ipad / computer.

    Oh Yeah.

Costco Will Start Handing Out Free Samples Again Later This Month!

Back in March, when the country was trying to find its footing in response to the coronavirus, Costco eliminated its signature samples to help stop the spread of COVID-19. It was a sad day, but best for the health and safety of both the employees and Costco members.

    [IMG] © MediaNews Group/Getty Images
Now, as we trudge into June, the country has started reopening its doors to the public. What does that mean for Costco's samples? Well, they're coming back!

When Is the Official Return Date?
It's sooner than you think. During Costco's quarterly earnings call at the end of May, execs revealed that samples are set to come back in mid-June. However, the sampling method will look different than we're all used to.

USA Today reported that Costco exec Richard Galanti says: "We're going to start doing some things in mid-June on a slow rollout basis in sampling. I can't tell you any more, but needless to say it's not going to be where you go and just pick up an open sample with your fingers."

We're not surprised that the approach to samples will change. That's to be expected. However, the greatest takeaway is that they're not gone forever!

USAA has been awesome for me. I get calls all the time asking me if I am trying to use my card on items that I dont normally by. Never been hacked though.

Also, we Pennsyltuckyvanians can once again walk into a liquor store!

Meanwhile, my employer sent an email yesterday letting us know that the very earliest we should expect to be returning to office locations is September 30. At the very earliest. I'm not sure I really care, I was pretty much working from home fulltime before 'Rona.

In Georgia liquor stores were considered Essential Businesses and never closed. The clever ones came up with an online order / curbside pickup system early on to accomodate those who didn't want to go inside. Then there's the couple I know of with a drive up window... That's pretty sweet.

(oh and gun/ammo stores were also considered Essential Businesses... love GA)
