Anybody remove their safety mechanism from their oven to bake pizza on the self cleaning mode? Saw Alex the French cooking guy try it. I was stupid enough to follow in his footsteps. Definitely raises my crust game.

It’s very easy with mine, it’s just a little latch that comes down that prevents the door opening while in self cleaning mode. I removed it. Alex actually cut his off. Oven gets almost 900 F in self cleaning. Use a stone, not a steel, works better at that temp.

It’s kinda a dumb thing to do though and don’t leave the oven while you are doing this. It’s not safe lol.

Ground beef, sausage, peppers, onions, basil and Rao’s Marinara sauce. One trick I’ve learned is slicing the onions into super thin ribbons and spreading them directly on top of the sauce, then Basil and Parmesan, top with Mozzarella and toppings to taste. Placing the thin onions on the sauce let’s them almost dissolve and add sweetness to balance the acidity of the sauce.

It’s just a nonstick Pizza pan. I only use it to partially precook the dough prior to topping and for slicing. I cook them on the bare oven rack at 425*. It gives you a super crispy crust.
