Warning Adventure Ready and James Baroud

Over the past two months I have been dealing with Adventure Ready trying to warranty a James Baroud Evasion tent. So far both Adventure Ready and James Baroud have provided multiple excuses why they will not stand behind their 5 year warranty despite being installed by Tactical Application Vehicles (a certified dealer for James Baroud).


Tom at Adventure Ready refused to warranty as it is not on one of their racks.
Antonio of James Baroud claims misuse and aerodynamics as the reason for failure.

Problem with all statements is that the tent is well within the 5 year warranty period. Rack was approved by James Baroud of Portugal prior to build for use with their tent. Tent is tucked behind the cab for aerodynamics.

What we have here are two companies who do not stand behind their product.

Do you have emails or correspondence from James Broud that you can show us?

I was thinking of getting one of these but that's concerning.

Going on what you told us so far it sounds like an easy win in small claims court.

Regarding where the tent is fixed, we see no problem.

The direction in which the tent is mounted can be a problem as it is not in the aerodynamic direction and when the vehicle is in motion it is forcing the top cover in the opposite direction.

Regarding the marks on the fabric, it demonstrates that you do not close the tent correctly, leaving the fabric out or badly positioned, causing friction and also contact with rivets and causing this situation.

This tent does not have any type of manufacturing defect and the consequence of incorrect use has resulted in the damage presented.

Tent was warrantied once before due to design defect. Second tent, the design changed adding foam around the upper lid. In the end the tent failed in the exact same way. Walt Wagner of TAV, a certified James Baroud Dealer who installed the tent, confirmed there was no user error involved.

When I first got the tent I thought it was decent, but has some concerns. When it comes to Antonio's statement of the tent being mounted incorrectly resulting in failure, my buddies tent has failed in exactly the same manner. When the manufacture does not wish to stand behind their product, that gives the consumer very little confidence.

 

That's not right, especially considering the price of those things.
Just one question though. do you think you could have mounted that tent just on the cab rack.
Quite sure I won't get a James Baroid after your story but I'm wondering if it tent that heavy could be mounted on the cab rack?

 

Dealing with the same thing with James Baroud and Adventure Ready. I've been trying to get a replacement part for my awning for 7 months now. Definitely regretting sinking so much money into JB products when theres so much more out there now.
