My harness did not come with an orange/black wire. Are there any other extra wires that we do not use on these harnesses with the right connector that I can use instead?

Sure. As you can tell, I only completed the first step, then noticed the missing wire.

 

Um...you have too many connectors. It looks like you ended up with 2 small female ends. One of them has a blue wire protruding from the back of it where the orange/black wire normally is. Where did that wire come from? It's length looks altered. Also, I noticed the jumpered blue wire is still there. Has it been cut yet?

 

I added the protruding blue wire protruding as per step one of your guide. The jumpered blue wire you see is on the male end of the

71-1761. It appears to me that the 17-1761 kit I received is different than most. Mine does not have a orange/black wire on the small connector, and has the blue and blue/white pins jumpered together on the large connector.
And I agree, it appears I have an extra small female connector, but it doesn't have an orange/black either.

 

You could just steal the missing wire you need from the extra connector. Just depin it and put in in place of the orange wire that you're missing. Make a mental note or a literal one that your orange wire is a different color

 

The only problem with that is the wire needs to terminate in a female pin ( in order to fit in the large metra male connector) and the extra connector wires are all male pins.
I find it odd that my connectors are different. I used the link in the thread to order them from Amazon, and the product depiction shows the correct pinout, but the product delivered is different. I'm going to look around my shop for a wire with the correct pin. If I cant find one, I guess I'll just order another set from a different vendor.

 

I got mine two weeks ago and the orange black was there. Did the PN on the package match the order?

 

You have what you need, just need to move some things around

Swap the two female connectors since you’ve already pinned one of them.

Then de-pin the blue loop from the Large male connector like the guide shows and re-pin it in the small male connector like the guide shows. Then these two short blue wires will splice together in place of the orange/black wire. You may want to add an additional length of wire between them to keep them the same length as the other colored wires.

Thank you for all the help gentlemen. So when I depin the stubby blue wire from the large male end, I will move the remaining blue wire next to the orange/white wire (where the normal blue/white wire would normally be) so all I lose is the power antena signal and not the amp turn on signal, correct?

I can’t say enough about how accommodating and gracious @tpp4 has been in helping me get my harness done. The pics and instructions at the beginning of this thread really are that easy. I’ve never done any type of wiring like this and was a little intimidated. With his encouragement, I made it happen and got the amp set up this evening. There is a dramatic difference in what my speakers can do now!

My completed harness. I really like the Tesa tape instead of regular electrical tape.

 

Harness worked great for my Alpine, but now I have to take it out and disassemble it again to add the
AudioControl LC7i and rerun wires again to the back. At least it's warm now to work on

 

I'll pay you to wrap mine. Lol. Mines just a total mess

 

In case anyone is curious, prepare to have patience or swear impressively while depinning this thing. On to the next task.

 

I wouldn't mind making another harness. I like to solder and clean up the wires.

I wonder if kicker sells the harness separately.
